I'm a former Drake student. The food that is served at Hubbell does not taste good at least 90% of the time, and all students who live on-campus are required to purchase a meal plan, which costs about $3,000 - $4,000 every semester. I lived on-campus in my first two years. I would say that out of 10 times I went there, 9 times I find the food served below satisfactory, and I leave without a full stomach. Its far from what we call a main course. Its worse than the canteen of my former high school, and its also the only place to dine on-campus (with the exception of Quad Creek and other fast-food restaurants within walking distance like McDonalds, Subway, Haiku and KFC which gets boring after a while). I’m not being sarcastic. I feel short-changed. This is like buying oysters that turned out to be empty. Thus, not having a full meal/adequate nutrition affects my studies and the overall impression of the university, as I get hungry again in 2-3 hours due to what the canteen serves. There are also other factors that affects my overall impression of Drake (besides the dining hall). Just to be clear: I'm not writing a hate speech. We can disagree without creating/inciting hatred.

@@emilygrace5614 At the end of every Spring semester (normally in May), students are required to move out from the dorms. However, its unreasonable to be asked to do so in a short span of time (less than 24 hours). I had to move out on the same day as my last final, and I don't have a car (and storage) like most of the American students. I was also the only international student in the floor I lived. The RA I had, who is nice and welcoming at the beginning of the academic year, became aggressive and started to drag out all of my personal belongings from my former room when I had not vacated it by 5pm. The entire move-out process is very rushed. I was also fined $25 for a late check-out. They never considered the predicaments I'm faced with. You don't rush people, when you are not helping in the move-out process at all. We should have been given a week to move out (regardless local American or international students). It doesn't hurt to give a week for everyone to move out. (p/s: I experienced the same problem in the final year I was there, although I lived off-campus. I lived in Drake West Village. I only had one luggage. I lost most of my personal belongings to Goodwill, when they could have been sold. This has affected/tarnished my overall impression of the university.) Ironically, to my disappointment, when I brought this up to the International Office, they were not able to help at all. Neither did the Office of Residence Life nor the Management Office (i.e: I lived in Drake West Village in my final year there). And none of my friends wanted to help me when I asked around (i.e: they are from the CF and they have a car). This has caused a lot of inconvenience to me, and I lost most of my personal belongings to Goodwill (when they could have been sold). I can't just drop off everything I have and leave just like that. How can you call yourself a world-class university, when you don't bother about the predicaments/difficulties that the international students are going through? We are paying a price to attend the university, just like the local American students. This is not acceptable for one of the top colleges in the Midwest. Its deplorable too. Its also extremely unfair for me to go through this ordeal entirely by myself. I'm entitled to criticize as I have spent the time and money to attend the university. I'm now entitled to file a claim against the university. (p/s: On a subjective note, I now learned that Drake's status/reputation as one of the top colleges in the Midwest only applies to its academic offerings/rigorous curriculum/mid-sized campus/small classes/etc, and not helping others when they need it. That's my present impression of the university. It seemed like the university is more catered to local Americans than international students.) For the reasons above, it justifies why I said that my Drake experience is not even satisfactory. It doesn't matter which major I chose, as everyone has to move in and out of the dorms.
