My man built a robot that plays Take On Me by Aha! When he turns it on. Just for that you deserve an award. (Edit) Also, ALWAYS be safe when handling robots y’all. A 150g lifter bot nearly crushed and broke my finger when I was being a bit irresponsible upon turning it off after a match. If my finger had been any further inside that robot, it would have snapped it like a chopstick. So even the smallest of robots can be dangerous.
honestly this was a pretty good video going into detail of your test boxes and the process of loading and ariming stuff in your testbox and going to be fair for 150g robots you can easily use a draw from a old tv stand or a dresser with a 10mm polycarb top and a thicker base attached to the bottom around 5-8mm would work depending on the type of wood
It's like your read my mind. Was looking at different test box builds for my 150g to 3lb, and there here you go. I'm for sure using the clamps you used great way to keep box locked. Again great video and cant wait to see more. PS where the mulcher?
Great video, hopefully it helps folks realize it’s not that costly or challenging a build and more people will make one. Why do you have the transmitter on when you put your bot in? I’ve never wanted my hand anywhere near the weapon with the transmitter on in case the transmitter gets bumped or something.
There are arguments both for and against this. Keeping the transmitter on during load in with the transmitter resting flat on a table away from any bump-happy hands is the way the Battlebots safety team requires it during load in. It's recommended by several other competitions one been to as well. It is generally just a safeguard against a robot doing things you wouldn't expect when its receiver is getting no signal. This is very rare with modern radio equipment but you never know. And if failsafes are not set properly, powering on the bot without the radio on can make it do dangerous things. I also feel uncomfortable about possibly bumping the radio which is why I have an arming switch set up as I described/showed and programmed my radio to require the switch is in the disarmed position before it will connect to the bot's receiver on startup.
If anybody's in any doubt about what can happen when spinning things meet meat, have a look at the latest video on Andrew Newton's CZcams channel. ('CADDX Nebula Pro Vista Kit'.) Andrew's an enormously experienced RC model aircraft enthusiast. He recently had an accident when his hand was cut by an electric motor spinning a plastic propeller. (Similar to the kind of thing used on a quad-copter.) His hand was badly chopped up and needed hospital treatment (yep, actual surgery). Very messy and extremely painful. Bear in mind that this was a small brushless motor turning a plastic prop weighing just a few grams. A robot's kinetic weapon is made from tool steel and is designed to cut metal, so tangling with one will be worse than sticking your hand in a blender. (Worse because a robot leaps about unpredictably after the initial impact.) A bot like Division could easily shatter bones and amputate fingers. A heavyweight bot like Bloodsport could (literally) kill you. Let's be careful out there...
You're talking about a pistol grip radio I assume? Yes they can, but they are far less common as they often make it difficult to control anything except for drive.
you are scared of beetleweights? my team tests 60kg robots 3 feet away from the driver and with no testbox in a collage classroom with benches and 12 more people in the room.
Whether you're scared or not doesn't change the fact it would easily kill you or rip your arm off. That's like saying ' "I play with loaded guns with 12 people in the room in a college classroom!" Congrats on being horrendously irresponsible. Just because they haven't hurt you yet doesn't change the fact that they easily can or will.
@@JustCuzRobotics I was kidding😅. They did test it in the way described. But it is a drum spinner so not much to worry about. And btw your videos are helping me in developing my beetleweight so thanks.
@@JustCuzRobotics the point is that in india the arenas are really unsafe. Sometimes 60kg category is driven on concrete and 2 cm thick bulletproof glass is used for walls and metal mesh to cover the top. And being the whayachis of india, the people being present during testing are not scared.
@@JustCuzRobotics every single team reports an unsafe arena. And the quality is little improved but if it is still unsafe we bring in 2 wedge botz and destroy the walls of the arena. By ramming into them, there would be no audience during that. So literally the event is cancelled then.

I am well aware of the horrendous safety standards. You should collectively work to change that
