  • We turn my son's quad into a rocket with this Electric Vehicle Conversion. We us a 48Volt DC 1000Watt battery and motor swap into an old rusty 4wheeler ATV.

    Front battery and engine puts more weight forward making it less likely to flip.

    Hey mate I’ve spent so much time on making a dyno to test a alternator that I converted into a motor that I forgot the reason I converted the alternator!! It was to make a vehicle for my boys. Your video has pushed me to finish it with my boys and they love it!
    Thanks
    I will have a video up soon it’s crazy fast

    Rad build! Maybe look into putting in a pententiometer, then you can adjust the voltage, turn it down for the kids, crank it up for the adults!

    I did my motor mount differently, that has no adjustment for chain tension.
    I made the motor plate then put bolts though the elongated holes in the original engine mount then clamped the plate on top, flipped the quad over and tack welded the bolts to the plate and finished them off with it off the frame.
    So now I have a motor mount plate with studs that go though the original mount and can slide back and forth, add a but to the bolt threads to raise the plate so you have clearance for the motor bolts to go in from underneath.

      Good point, and sounds like you have a good design. Fortunately on this old quad, the chain can be tensioned from the rear. Thanks for watching.

      @@ntdracing my frame is almost identical to yours, im assuming you mean the spring loaded tensioner when you say it can be tensioned at the rear? I have not kept that as it runs soooo much quieter without it and having a sliding mount means i can tension from the front. Extreme suspension travel on the rear arm can produce a slightly slack chain situation without a rear tensioner while the suspension is compressed but it returns to the preset tension as soon as the arm returns to its normal ride position.
      The chain vibrated up and down so much when it was engine powered that the chain could come off when it went slacker but that has not been a problem since it went electric :)

    Great video. I would love to do this with my granddaughter. She loves spannering.. and electric vehicles!
    Can I ask where you got the Electric motor etc and battery pack from? It looks very well matched to the ATV.

      I bought them both on Ebay. The Ebay numbers were 224065335567 for the battery and charger and 233614028748 for the Motor and controller. Thanks for watching.

    This is awesome. I have a 5 year old and a 3 year old with some 110cc Chinese quads that are constantly a problem. Been thinking about doing this but I've never messed around with electric conversion before. Seems simple enough right? Is it easy to manage the speeds through the electric controller?

    • @ntdracing
      @ntdracing  Před 2 lety

      It was easy to dial it down with the controller we used. I basically added a switch to make it 1/2 power. It is fast at full power.

      Super cheap. We did use a brushless motor on his next build. Big power jump.
