- There's so much to do in the summer in Vancouver, that there really is no such thing as a typical day. What did I miss?

Big thanks for having me join you today Mike! I'm about to watch this and can't wait to see how we look... 😅🤙🏻
EDIT: This is legit the best DownieLive video I've seen (and not because I'm in it!). We get to see your personality in a much more relaxed setting and BOOM, it's unbelievable. Excited to capture more adventures together in the future 🙌🏻
I agree Great dynamic !
And I'm glad I learned how to say, "Marhaba". today. that will come in handy when I officiate a wedding soon.
you should do more videos together. Really liked the energy
Glad you like the edit, bud :)
How did you find the Lebanese food?!
Dude I lived in Vancouver and this was an exceptional day. You're truly living your best life.
You haven't been anywhere near the DTES (DownTown East Side) lately, have you? They had a protest 2 days ago handing out meth, crack, coke, & heroin.
I was there yesterday morning and saw a young lady with no teeth tell a guy to FO and then puke on a telephone pole.
If you look around at life and you ain't seeing approx 50/50 good and bad then you ain't really looking too hard, right?
@@seanb3516 - What about “exceptional” day confused you?
@@nadogrl In Vancouver these days every day is the exception. Hottest place in the World, or hotter than Death Valley etc. And the Park Coyotes seem to be actually trying to eat people. Kind of a 2 birds/1 stone scenario.
@@seanb3516 - Okay. “Exceptional” usually is a positive thing. It’s a real shame how Vancouver has deteriorated.😢
@@nadogrl The downward spiral began decades ago when Vancouver brought in "No Dance Zones" in the DownTown Core. Talk about suckin' the Fun out of the room...
I live in Montreal but have close family in Vancouver. 7 years since I was last there. Just booked my flight for August, keeping a massive list of all these gems!!
Yes! Awesome! Enjoy!
What a way to start of my Saturday
I feel the breath of the summer vacation...aromatic fire...the trees...the vines...the flowers are astir...with tender desire...the white moths flutter about the lamp...enamoured with light...and a thousand creates softly sing...a song to the summer vacation...but I am alone...and how can I sing...praises to thee...Come, summer vacation...unveil the beautiful soul...💖
"but you know, you could feed me" LOL that was so cute. buddy needs a snack
😅😅
Another nice mountain walk is just a quick five minute walk from Murrin Lake. Park in the Murrin Lake parking lot. Cross the Sea to Sky to the other side and walk next to the ditch. You will come upon a wooden cross sign stating g you are at the entrance to the Petgill trail. The entrance is a tight scramble up a tiny escarpment and a shimmy across a bit of granite ( best to face in to the granite if you get dizzy). Then you are into the woods and just follow the tin plates marking the trail. Pretty easy walk and I've rarely met anyone else on this trail. The view at the top is nice as is the lake.
"Explore a little further"...excellent advice!!!
The Van Gogh exhibit was very good. Again immersive. If you get to Amsterdam in the future visit the Van Gogh museum. 70% of the known works in one little building. Fascinating as its laid out in the order he painted and you can see the evolution of his craft. The early days were dark and moody. Nothing like the pieces we associate with his name. After the main exhibit they just have a hall with every inch of the walls covered in his paintings. Sort of after seeing the biggest collection imaginable then there is the rest which is overwhelming.
Wow. That sounds incredible.
I'll affirm W here, having been in Amsterdam in 2016 and visited the museum.
My typical summer day in Vancouver:
Sleeping for 17 hours and watching anime in my room.
I'm a visually impaired Vancouver person. Thank you so much for showing me so much about Vancouver.
Your videos always make my day 🙂
I'm actually studying for my medical entrance exams and your videos really help me relax and just get away from the stress. : )
Awesome! Good luck!
Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! Mike, you’re our Vancouver Ambassador!
What an absolutely great day. The anticipation and then culmination of the arrival at the top of the mountain and the reveal of the fantastic view made me almost feel like I was there. Cool off with a swim and then have Lebanese at the food truck and beer on the patio. Always good to see your girl and of course, your folks. I'm so glad you were able to film inside the Van Gogh exhibit. Oh, I hope it comes to Cincinnati for I'm sure it's 10x better in person. Mike, this is one of my favorites of your videos. Thanks.
Thanks Pete!
There are dates for Columbus and Cleveland, but not Cincinnati.
@@nadogrl Thanks for the tip.
@@petemichael4512 - You’re welcome l🙂
That was quite a challenging hike up The Chief - there are chains like that on the hike above the Geiranger Fjord in Norway - the view from The Chief was truly spectacular. Just that would totally make a great day. Vancouver is nicely situated so close to nature. The last segment was a pleasant surprise.
Yes it was! A nice little exhibition that we haven't had in ages.
When I was stationed in Munich, Germany in 78 [plus], we hiked in the Austrian Alps several times and used similar chains and cables on steeper inclines to stay safe along rock faces and climbs. I also remember at some points we were hearing Marmots whistling below us as we climbed which in turn drew our attention to raptors launching off the mountainside below us too. Such glorious views and memories. Thanks for bringing them back to me.
On my summer break from German university, I spent 3 months on a work and travel in BC and loved very single day of it. I met with a bunch of fellow work and travellers and we hiked the second peak of the Chief as well. I had never seen chains ins rocks to get up steep areas and I remember the unique view from the chief. Thanks for showing that to us and bringing memories back!
OMG! Loved the hike up the chief and the view......what Will said.....no words! Van Gogh exhibit looks like a must see!
It was incredible Diane!
Holy Cow! I could barely survive the Capilano Dam Hike, I would die on the Chief.
I gotta say, seeing the views of my old hometown really brings back memories. Thanks for helping us experience it who can't be there.
👍❤️
Your vid is the Only way I'd ever get to the top of Chief 2.. Thanks ! !
You can do it!
let's go hit up that patio soon ✌🏼
Let's GOOOOOO!!!!
Can I come wit u?
With social distancing!!
I am sooo jealous! The Van Gogh exhibit is something I'm dying to see.
I really appreciate that you have included a few new attractions (that I haven't checked out yet): the P49 patio, the Fairmont (putting green) patio and the Van Gough exhibit. Thanks and keep up the great work!
Oh my Gosh! I agree no words WOW! Thanks 😊👍
🙌🏼 This weekend isn’t going to be typical though; it’s gonna get HOT!!!
Amazing, beautiful, difficult and so worth it! Thanks for the views, and I hope you had water in that backpack!
Oh wow, beautiful views. I would have been worn out on that hike!! Thanks for sharing!
That ascent was brutal!! Nature's stair master...I love Squamish too, such a cool town
Oh loved the Van Gogh when it was in Winnipeg. So glad you got to see it!!
😍 summer in Vancouver is really cool ! Imagine Van Gogh- it was really something I wanted to see 🤩
So good. I loved my year in Vancouver. Don’t think my knees would tolerate the hike. Thanks for taking me along ...all the best...Chris
Glad you enjoyed it!
Typical summer day in Vancouver: - first step: leave Vancouver 😁
I can't wait to see the Van Gogh in New York! Thanks for the review!
Another fantastic adventure. Thanks for taking me along as I am still isolating in Toronto. It's great to get out with you and explore the wonderful sights of Vancouver. As you went up the final face of the peak, I was truly scared. That is high praise for the immersive nature of your tours.
🙌🏼😃
The chief has three peaks with amazing views. I would recommend doing all of them. Slightly hidden of the third peak you drop down into a discrete trail that goes between the two rock faces into a super lush forests. You can follow that tail all the way to the bottom. In addition to that at the end go to Shannon falls hop the fence and have a shower under Shannon Falls. (That's what I did last time I was there)
That was a great day! Enjoyed scenery and going along, thank you!
The hair flip though! Looooove it!
The perspiration is rolling off my nose and chin just watching. Thanks from Florida for your videos.
😄😄👍🏼
Love your adventure and showing us areas that we can only imagine to travel one day!
Thanks for showing me things and places I would not see otherwise !
Finally here in Italy we have sunshine and warm wonderful days
Whoa...that Squamish peak definitely not for those afraid of heights! Thanks for taking us along. That was remarkable.
Por fin es sábado!!! Mi día favorito para soñar. Espero que pronto abran frontera 😃
Great Video as always Mike.
What a cool trek! That view is gorgeous, the hike didn't seem too difficult, but you guys could be making it look easy
What a fun adventure!! Thank you for sharing this with us..love the numerous hair flips too!!
😂 I’m starting to really embrace the hair.
That was an awesome video Mike and Will . Love the hike up the mountain and the beautiful scenery . You guys did a great job! Cheers
Thanks Bill! 👍
Great video as always ! That exhibit looked so cool
Happy to have discovered this amazing channel. Keep it up Mike. Subscribed.
Beat the crowd. Beat the crowd. Beat the crowd. Every park you go now a days just remember, beat the crowd.
born and raised in vancouver lower mainland, been away for 30 years, i can't believe just how nice and laid back people are there. it's like its in the air or something.
A couple of winters ago , I flew to Melbourne for the Van Gogh exhibition. All the paintings on the walls of the art gallery, and so many people ! It was hard to sit and enjoy it.
This exhibition in Vancouver looking amazon, and so relaxing in the way it immerses a person in his work..
That mountain hike is definitely "rad"😃.
I was getting puffed out just watching you do it !. But awesome to watch
You are truly a life inspiration.
Sigh! I miss Vancouver so much!! Great vid on a great city!
Beautiful! Amazing that you did all that lugging a camera around! 😊
These videos are always amazing
Excellent video Mike! A typical summer day in MY Vancouver usually means LEAVING IT.
Always a great way to start my day the Downie way😁😁😁. Thanx Mike Awesome vid 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇨🇦.
What a neat day adventure. Cool hiking path!
That’s incredible, I wish I was 30years younger. Amazing. It’s really lovely to meet your parent’s. Very nice family.
You are so kind
Love your videos man. Please keep them up.
Great outdoor ideas! Thanks!
You bet!
"Dip our bodies in the lake" 😂 LOL I like when your videos can crack me up! I also love the slow-mo hair toss! 🤩 It's good to see you having fun in your videos. And... excellent graphic work and pop sounds!! 😍 Loves it!
Great looking natural place that was... Wow
I just got a new large monitor and all of the beautiful scenery was a great way to break it in. Thank you so much for showing us around and sharing your life with us. I look forward to your videos every week. Keep on amazing us...please.
You got it, Allan! 😉
Wow awesome. Made my stomach queasy! What an amazing view.
That was great Mike! Have an excellent summer....cheers :)
Thanks Michael! You too!
Since our temps have been above 113, what a refreshing way to start my day...thanks so much!
Vancouver gets "heat wave" warnings when the temp goes over 75. I'm not joking. I moved her from California (inland) and it's hilarious the way they act over what would be considered a cool summer day almost anywhere else.
@@bathedinshadow - This didn’t age well.😂
@@nadogrl Well it does actually. We were getting warnings last week because it was 26 celsius. Sure we had an unprecedented week a few weeks back, but that is totally out of the norm and doesn't take away from the panic that ensues in Vancouver when it hits a temperature that would be considered mild, if not cool, to most people. Like say... 26.
@@bathedinshadow - I was just referring to the fact that it actually got HOT for real.❤️
wow.. whats a beautiful place!
Great video! Will is a stud...woof!
Hiking , food and beer ! Perfect day in Vancouver. I got to try that hike , looks incredible. Great video Michael !
You should!
Will is a cutie 💛 ... love your travels Mike. Cant wait for borders to open and see what you find next ! 💜
Me too!!
@@DownieLive I would tell you to come to Fort Wayne, Indiana but it’s just all eateries/breweries/wineries. Although my home town in “Home of the Railroaders” and I know how you are into trains. Thought about doing the subscribers home vlogs you did a while ago and told you/others about the history here
The hike to the top of Chief looks crazy hard, but those views! The Van Gogh Experience looked really lovely too.
Mike, This vídeo was so Nice that, in my opinion, everyone wants to be there with you and explore everything.. funny and the music was cool.
I hope some day, when covid is Over, you come to Portugal and i meet you personally🙋
See you Next week!!!
Thanks Carla! See you next week!

Vancouver is so beautiful architecturally.

It’s just glass buildings lmaoooo

Thanks Kal! I have many more coming for you!
Vancouver is awesome for the summer
When rainbows whisper...magic happens...the sun yield ripe with hope...on a bed of clouds she takes her bow...shares her generative york...when rainbows whisper...magic happens...the sky roll in mischievous mirth...she turns...unfurls...in languid curls...happy tears an iridescent glow...when rainbows whisper...magic happens...the bright colours of nature dance free...wishes are planted...dreams are enchanted...promise shines over me like a charmed marquee...💖
You have got some of the best videos on exploration out there. Keep it up. (Inspiration for me)

You'll probably do it someplace awesome, so it'll make a great video. You should have another friend or couple with you to film it and make it a total surprise.
