Its 1 year since you've made a video, I hope your ok!
Watching from Fiji. I love your videos.
Its 2023 now and I haven't seen any of your videos recently. Hope your okay. Much love from Fiji
Hope you put up new content, fascinating stuff 🙂
Excellent video, I like the way you broke this all down. I come away from it with the sense that we have only scratched the surface of the mysteries this site holds. One thing is for sure, we can't rely on traditional archaeology and mainstream science to give us an accurate approach to discovering the true history. Hopefully with emerging new technologies like lidar imaging and broad minded modes of inquiry we will start to put the puzzle back together. The first step is starting to ask the right questions, which is exactly what your two part series has achieved. Nicely done.
Thanks Drew Brania ! I appreciate it ! Yes asking questions and gathering information is definitely the beginning of all problem solving.
Promezhutochny Islands name translates to Intermediary, "the in-between" island.
Yes in Google translate thats what it comes out as. It is interesting as it may refer to the island being in the middle of the lake or "in-between" the shores of the lake, however it could also be a reference to it being a portal to travel "in-between" places. Considering the folklore, the latter would be a more accurate interpretation, and also that the term "island" itself denotes the nature of the land mass, so its somewhat redundant to call it island "in-between" or "in-between" island, if its refering to its positioning.
@@thurt1eht As a native Russian speaker I disagree, referring to a portal that would be another word, akin to English 'transitory'.
@@PieceOfDuke interesting 🤔 as someone who does not speak Russian, I appreciate that you have a more intimate understanding of the word, and though I am still suspicious of this structure's origins and the island's name, I defer to you on this. I did not include the name translation in the video because it is entirely my own speculation. I am curious, have you ever come across any strangely named ancient Russian structures besides this one ? I would greatly appreciate some leads on ancient places in Russia, it has been a hard place to research. Also, I am really digging conversing with you. Though we don't agree on everything we can still have an intelligent discussion, and that's pretty awesome.
@@thurt1eht Agreed on the last point )
As to the names... There are a lot of toponyms that are definitely Russian phonetically, but mean nothing to contemporary speaker. A lot of river names and village names are like that, and some ancient city names, too.
And this actually leads me to think that Prmzhtchny Island is a very recent name, possibly from Soviet times. I don't think locals would ever use such a long and awkward word to name a nearby terrain feature. It's a name to put into a map.
@@PieceOfDuke yes no doubt this name is relatively new. Considering the time that has passed since this structure was in its heyday, and how language evolves over time, at best this name is a "version" of the original, if not completely new as we suspect.
I bet they test submersible's in the lake
Interesting thought ! That would be the perfect lake for testing all kinds of submersible devices like motors. Would explain why there's so many tracks in the lake, and why there's such a large military presence. Good insight !
