I love this pin, one of the most creepy designed not only regarding the art but also sound. It doesn't matter that it doesn't have a dot matrix display with fancy animations or wild ramps or moving gimmicks, the atmosphere and purity makes it so special. Should I ever earn a larger amount of money, I am definitly buying me this gem!

BTW: You just forgot to mention one small, but neat feature which I like a lot: If the captive ball at the left is hit directly, the drops award just the lit value (CENTAUR taunting you: "Only single value!"). But passing the "tunnel" with the two star rollovers first (as you did in the video) - and which is much harder to do - these values are doubled; seperating the Amateurs from the Pro's! ;-)

This was a really good idea for a series about pinball machines. It wasn't until recently that I had an appreciation for pinball so when I used to play years ago it all was for me was flipping the flippers. Knowing the rules makes it more fun.
That bonus ball launcher is very clever. This is a great machine. It still impresses me how ingeniuos the designers and engineers were/are
Stunning machine. The black & white graphics, the crazy echo-voice, great stuff. I wish I could play one for real.
This table, along with Diner and Terminator II are probably my all-time favorite pinball tables!

I just bought a centaur II two months ago pain in the but with the minor problems but over all classic and my favorite to play. I also have a Williams flash and gorgar I'm a fan of your channel to.

The odd thing about the artwork on Centaur was the strange S & M lady in the upper right channel, large bazooms and and a dog leash! She's small and relatively hidden but there she is read for action!
I mean left channel, Doh!

Hi! When the video was made in 1989, new drop targets were not yet in production...but now you can buy all new ones made by Pinball Resource in New York!
Going to a tournament that has this table. Played a bit on virtual arcade but enjoyed your walk through before heading down and playing a real one. Subscribed!

My favorite pinball machine - I hope to own one someday, but finding a Centaur II for sale in good, working order is proving to be a challenge.
They are no longer cheap!

I really liked this game. A tavern had this game, I enjoyed the multi-ball feature, I also enjoyed the sound effects it made. However, the vendor, who owned the game, had the volume turned down, I could not hear the voice talk to well.
Cabinet side art would make an awesome tattoo.

I have no idea. I play the game emulated through VpinMAME 2.3 and Visual Pinball. Emulation of the tms5200 is still broken in the PinMAME core, but the proper chirptables for correct emulation of this chip are already implemented in the MAMEcore (0.137u3 and beyond). I hope they soon rewrite the PinMAME core with it. It would be nice hearing the emulated counterpart sounding just like the one in this video,
Just wanted you guys to know about FarSight Studios Kickstarter for The Twilight Zone Pinball and Star Trek: The Next Generation pinball. The goal for TTZ, has been met, but now we're aiming to double it to obtain the licenses for STTNG. Just wanted to point it out since The Pinball Arcade is a great pinball simulator (the best out right now in my opinion) and best of all its available on every platform!
I remember this machine and I also remember Eight Ball Deluxe which as you pointed out had the same cabinet.
And I do remember Fire Power. And I hated it.
But Williams also made their own turkey with a ball-bearing shooter called Hyperball

@mdegast exactly! thank you...and has anybody noticed that each different machine has it's own pitch on the voice? you can regulate the delay but not the pitch I wonder howcome every centaur speakes at different speed...could it be some component related to the clock in the squawk & talk pcb?
Sorry for the very late reaction. Maybe you know about it already; PinMAME 2.5 is out, with proper TMS5200 emulation. I run it on Windows Home Premium 64 bit with no problem. Run setup.exe with administrator rights though. This is not needed to run PinMAME, PinMAME32 and Visual Pinball as far as I know

I love Centaur, we played the shit out of it when we were growing up. I've never played Centaur 2. Are the only differences the cabinet profile and the ORBS target pad print? Otherwise them seem identical.
Yes...thats correct...some people do not like the smaller backglass.
The game will say "No class, Human!" when you tilt it. Also, the game has 2 tilt modes: Apart from the standard one, which will void the current ball in play, the second mode will give a warning once the tilt bob is triggered while making the "Warning" backglass insert lit for entire game. If you trigger the tilt bob for the second time while the "Warning" backglass insert is still lit, the game will end regardless of current ball in play.

Any idea why they decided to produce "Centaur II", instead of just making more Centaur machines? Because it seems to me that unlike "Fireball II", there are no gameplay changes to the original and only a different back box.
WOW. I've only ever played this on The Pinball Arcade. This would go so well in a heavy metal or goth or fetish club. Unfortunately nobody has either Centaur I or II publicly playable in Britain and there's never any for sale.
Pinball Arcade brought me here too. Only have the demo version, but I REALLY like the theme of this table.

sometimes insted of "bad move human" he says another phrase that I can't understand, any idea?
On my Centaur II, bought from eBay in 2005, the 'Say It Again' board (voice reverb) stoped working after about 10 years of ownership, so I lost the echo. The upside was that I now understood the phrase - "Slow, aren't you?" - when you miss changing the bonus multiplier lane lights. That's probably the phrase you mean, everything else is pretty clear I think. He only says "Bad move . . " when you tilt.
@@blinkstudio Actually, the game says "No class, Human!" if the game is tilted. The "Bad move, Human!" voice is heard when the ball rolls through the top lane that's lit, as demonstrated on 5:53 mark of the video.

those are the wrong drop targets. takes away from the game appeal
