Romans 3:19 Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. 1 Timothy 1:15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief. I agree. I also think most churches entertwine or combine being saved with service (works). But everything the Bible says about service (commands that Jesus gives us) is about our accountability not about our salvation. If i choose to sin tomorrow does it compromise my salvation? No, of course not. I will, however, face certain consequences for said sin that i commit. Where am i getting with all this? The only thing that matters is that you believe Jesus Christ died on the cross at Calvary for the atonement of sin, was buried for three day, and is risen from the dead.
My test i give to any church that I may consider to attend is 1)do they love the Gospel (the true gospel). 2)do they love their neighbors. 3)do they have a humble attitude. (This is my test for the leadership of a church)

The reason they confuse salvation is because they arent saved. If you cannot comprehend the simplicity of the Gospel of Christ then you are not saved. If you cannot explain how to be simply saved by faith in Jesus then you are proving that you dont believe. It doesn't matter how many works you do. Matthew 7:21-23

Thats crazy, it seems then that all churches were wrong for 1500 year!! I guess Jesus was wrong when he said the gates wouldn't overcome the church. They overcame it right after the apostles I guess. No. This is a new doctrine which was instituted in the 15th century. The Church never believed this. Calvinists and Free Gracers make the same fundamental logical mistake, this is why they both accuse each other of back loading works. They insist that if action X produces result Y that necessarily means it was merited. This is a non sequitur. There is such a thing as a non meritorious work, an action that produces a result without earning it, such as receiving a gift.
Now despite arguing this, Free Grace allows a "one little bitty mini-work" of free will acceptance of the Gospel message (unless you are a Calvinist Free Gracer of course, usually called Sovereign Grace to distinguish). And if the Free Gracer allows it for their one initial fire and forget, one and done, mini-work, then they are being self-contradictory to their own position, because a free will acceptance contradicts their inserted assumption, their presupposition, that contingent actions are necessarily being done as an attempt to merit. They've done gone and earned their salvation with the "work" of accepting Christ through free will!
So the Calvinist responds, "What makes you different than the person who chose not to accept Christ? Are you smarter, wiser and holier than your fellow man? Then you are boasting in your works, what you've chosen." That free will decision is something you DO, it's an act of the WILL, it's an action. By the exact same logic being used, this must necessarily be a work added to the merit of Christ, no matter how small, and it is dependent upon what the person does (acceptance). And indeed, if you've spent any time with hardcore Calvinists, you will find them arguing this exact same logic with Free Gracers, that the Free Gracers try to use against them, in a strange twist of ironic fate, since they are both making the same logical error-that an action resulting in a response necessarily has to be an attempt at meriting it.
You can try to say "but faith is not a work," however you are special pleading, and using something that fits the exact same definition of others things you critique as "works." One could just as well rebut "sanctification isn't a work, either." Receiving the gift does not earn the gift, yet something must be done-reach out, grab it, unwrap it, use it-if you define all that as "works salvation," then logically you MUST eliminate ALL free will altogether as that will be the only PURE form of grace, eliminating ALL works (under that false definition), and having God actually and truly "do it all."
And so we see that we can have Jesus merit our salvation for us and still put requirements on us for receiving it, without running into any contradiction or logical dilemma, as this is a conditional payment, a payment fully made, undeserved, yet still with conditions added (even if just a basic "yes" to Jesus' free gift at a minimum). Otherwise you are a self-contradicting mess when you accuse others of works salvation while allowing your own free will decision to be the effective agent in procuring Christ's salvation.

@@wolfwatchers My conclusion is to stop mocking and belittling James 2 and all the Biblical warnings of apostasy, and take it for what it says, and that it harmonizes with grace. We have to do something to obtain salvation, we have to show our faith in Christ, but it's not sinless perfection, and it's not a standard of obligation, it's grace-empowered faith. It's works of Faith not works of Law. If I said you had to push a button to be saved, would you be terrified you couldn't do it and call it works? No, God's grace will always give us anything and everything he requires. Universalism is an evil lie, Calvinism is an evil lie, Free Grace is an evil lie.

However, it's up to us to receive and maintain that gift. Like any free gift we have the ability to accept, neglect, or reject it. The reception and maintenance of that gift requires faith, love, repentance, and good deeds on our part. We will fail miserably, but we have to try our best and remain vigilant until the end. Most churches teach that it's all grace and nothing else. They also teach that the old testament is gone away with (oh but except that tithing thing that part stays(cherry picking)). The issue with this is that people continue in sin and aren't actually repenting. We are saved by grace through faith by believing in Yeshua (Jesus). Once we are saved we are to live by YHUH's Spirit and stop sinning. Sin is transgression of the law which would mean that if we want to stop sinning then we are to keep YHUH's laws. I have a list of scriptures which I can post below. But the point is we aren't saved by works at all, we are saved by believing Yeshua and if we love Him we will keep His commandments.
