  • The dissonant section in Ladders of Supremacy matches the intro riff from The Dark Sentencer, creating a cool sonic allusion to a previous track.

My biggest take away from this video is that we're getting a Guitar Man Sam cover of Ladders!

Sonic callbacks are a constant thing with this band. Love it

If I remember correctly, Ladders was originally supposed to be the intro to Unheavenly Creatures, so this totally makes sense

I heard from an interview he wanted to make ladders the opening track of the recent album so I see that making sense

I know this aint Rhystic Studies, but knowing you are doing this analysis and observation for Coheed and Cambria is awesome. C&C is one of my formative and fave bands.

Yeah I noticed it sounded really similar to Dark Sentencer. Coheed are truly kings of self-reference

I was so excited to hear that section when this section played. All the little references - that first section is also a little bit of a reference to Domino the Destitute (which is story relevant this album!) And there's the bit of In Keeping Secrets in one of the tracks on Vaxis I.
Love your Coheed dives as much as your magic dives on rhystic studies. Thanks for being such an excellent part of our communities

I'm so glad you mentioned this! The first time I heard this track, my mind immediately flashed to those Dark Sentencer riffs. Instant favorite from the new album!

Had no idea you were the Magic dude too! really enjoyed you recently on Shuffle up and play. I been following you for your awesome Coheed covers. Really enjoyed this breakdown and would love to hear more about call backs and reprisals and whatnot. Great stuff!

You still use the Vox ToneLab? Btw I still watch and rock out to the fcpremix vid you did. Tbh your cover sounds better than the original song.
