Placing a first class coach at the far end or close to the engine doesnt make sense. Why should a passenger who is paying a higher fare have to walk all the way from the station entrance (which is usually centrally located) to either end of the train to reach his coach 🤔
Good point but in most of the trains (not only in premium trains), First AC coaches and AC Two Tier are placed at the Locomotive end or the EOG end, not at all placed in the middle...
Because if it is placed in middle then there will pe sleeper class on both sides and passengers will move here and there...which increases the chances of theft...when placed at either ends the passengers will move in sleeper class only and if anyone come with intention of theft they can be easily identified(maybe)..
The AC coaches in general are placed at ends mainly because lesser passengers travel in them in comparison to other coaches. Another reason is that coaches of a certain class are always placed together Also another reason might be that equipment for AC coaches in stations are generally located at extremes.
I would beg to differ...Deccan queen 1st class and a/c coaches are placed very close to the entrance to the station. But I do acknowledge your point and the logic behind it as DQ is a short distance chair car train with no sleeper coach.

The chair car coaches seem to be in the middle coz there are more no. of unreserved(at least prior to COVID they used to be) coaches at that end Since now all the sitting coaches are named as D1, D2..... the chair car coaches seem to be in the middle
