    At the age of 26, when he ascended to the throne, Sultan Suleiman aimed to build an empire more powerful than Alexander the Great and to render the Ottomans invincible. Throughout his 46-year reign, he became the greatest warrior and ruler of both East and West.
    The young Suleiman received news of his succession to the throne during a hunting party in 1520. Unaware that he would be ruling a reign beyond his dreams, he left behind his wife son and took to the road with his close friend and companion Pargali Ibrahim to reach the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul. As they started their journey overland, an Ottoman ship set sail from Crimea in the Black Sea, bringing female slaves as gifts for the Ottoman palace… On this ship was Alexandra La Rossa, the daughter of a Ukrainian Orthodox minister, taken away from her family and sold to the Crimean palace. She had no idea that she would become Hurrem, wife of Sultan Suleiman and mother of princes, ruling the empire with him through bloodshed and intrigue.
    As Sultan Suleiman conquered the world, his great passion for Hurrem would clash with his love for and trust in his closest friend and advisor, Grand Vizier Pargali Ibrahim, all set against the backdrop of the tension between Christian Europe and the Ottoman Empire in the 16th century.

    The absolute hypocrisy of Mustafa lecturing Suleiman on being manipulated by a woman's crocodile tears when the whole reason he's there is because he was manipulated by his mothers tears.

    • @TJRhea
      @TJRhea Před 21 dnem +11

      Her manipulating him to go against his father for her was the first step to his downfall. Suleiman lost his trust in Mustafa because of how often he was willing to stand against him.
      Hurrem was smart. She taught her children to respect their father. When Mihrimah stood up to Suleiman for her she was legitimately shocked, worried and then touched. Suleiman even said that he trusted Hurrem because she was the one woman who didn't want someone else on the throne.

    Mustafa says Suleiman can't rule a woman when actually it's him who keeps being ruled by women throughout the wholw series. He is the one who keeps sacrificing himself in front of his mother's whining. First Mahidevran then Nora started ruling him and then mihirunnisa. When in contrary, Even though hurrem had a great influence on hurrem, he didn't let her get in his decisions regarding politics affairs and others that much. Sometimes hurrem tried to cross that limit of influence on him but he immediately showed hurrem her limits again.

      Honestly I don't see why it should be bad thing if a woman can't be dominated or "ruled" by a man

    So to summarize... Mahidevran ran into Hurrem's room without permission, knocking or any decent introduction, started attacking and insulting her, Hurrem told her to shut up (well I am not sultan's legal wife but if someone did that, I would be even tougher, maybe I would hit the person without saying anything) and then she threatened her, not to mention she even used her own child to threaten her, Hurrem just fought back, Mahidevran was going to hit her, Suleiman stopped her and wanted her to apologize (which is actually pretty valid) and she still feels like the victim and even lies to her son about it... Well, this scene just shows that it was Mahidevran's lies and manipulation that made Mustafa and Hurrem enemies. In my opinion, Mahidevran never truly loved Mustafa the way mother is supposed to love her child, he was her weapon, her source of power, which was pretty obvious, she even killed his first love (Elif), wanted to get rid of his child, tried to kill Helena etc. She never cared about his feelings, just his future because it was her future as well.

    I really dislike mahidevran. All the things that she’s done to hurrem and doesn’t even think to realize that she’s one of the reasons why Hurrem acts the way she does. It’s all because of her. Then you go and manipulate your son. This was one of mustafa’s worse moments defending her when she was lying.
