1996, a watershed year for Barrie railroading:
1st: The Innisfil Industrial Park job backs to Barrie on the Beeton Sub, powered by a MLW M420
2nd: Following a brief shot of North Bay 451 climbing the Painswick Hill on the Newmarket Sub, we watch the Collingwood job crossing the CPR at Utopia on the Meaford Sub, and heading towards Barrie.
3rd: After a view of a NBD freight on the Bala Sub at Port Bolster with a MLW HR616 in the power mix, we venture to Collingwood to see the Collingwood job leave town, pass through Batteaux, and stop for coffee in Stayner.
Six months following these scenes, CN left Barrie, removed the northbound part of the Newmarket Sub through Orillia, sold the southbound part to Barrie for future GO service, and transferred the Meaford and Beeton Subs to the new Barrie - Collingwood Railway.

Hey thanks for a great video I have lived in Barrie all my life and and have been chasing trains since I was a young grasshopper your video brings back alot of memories growing up in Barrie our boat was docked at the lakeshore spent most of my time hanging out on the boat Anytime a train was coming through Barrie I could hear trains coming way off in the distance and being at the waters edge most of the time the sound traveled across the water like an early warning radar every chance I got I would dash across the street well a head of a north or south bound train. It's too bad CN Stop running freight north through Barrie. So as I got older and got drivers license I had and still have the MacTier CPR SUB just outside side of town and it makes up for less rail traffic going through Barrie thanks again for such good footage

Near the end of the video, in Stayner, you commented on the Co-op siding not having seen a train in a while. I believe, later, some time after this video was shot, the siding was revived, was it not? I could be wrong, but I thought the BCRY serviced them after they took over from CN, the Co-op became a rail customer once again.

Damn seeing these videos make me wish I grew up in barrie in the 80s and 90s. Now its go trains and once and awhile bcry.
Well I can move somewhere else to see trains. Not like i would miss barrie seeing it's becoming one of the most costly cities to live in canada.
6:32 was this taken on the newmarket sub south of Barrie? That rare footage on it's own
