I seen Foxton in the late '90s, early 2000s when he was playing bass with Stiff Little Fingers. I was surprised and very happy to see the bass player from The Jam in one of my favourite punk bands. Also Selecter, the ska group from the early '80s who sang On My Radio, were opening for Stiff Little Fingers. A great night.
Takes me back to my youth. Got to see the Jam in SF. It was assigned seating, but the very second The Jam hit the stage we all went nuts and rushed the stage. One of the best shows ever.
This is such a fucking great full sound with the horns and backing vocals and BRUCE just kills this!! >> but, of course, they are all playing off of Paul's energy....damn great rendition of this song
first saw the Jam in '79 , Setting Sons tour, became a fan for all the power and intensity of the live shows. watching this shows what a superb band they were !
its funny looking at the audience and seeing people you know, like your girlfriend two years after this concert, she said she liked the jam, that was enough for me, I should have looked a bit deeper,
this version has a power and intensity the original never had. it isn't at all soulful but then I doesn't need to be to carry the songs message to a new audience.
This is way better than Mayfield's version. You can feel the energy of the band introduced by Paul. With whole heart. Fantastic. Jam of the month... Even now in 2015.
Yes Bruce and Rick knew the band was about to split. I think Weller told them around September '82. This footage was filmed on Nov 5th '82. I remember rushing home from playing a game of rugby for the school. This was The Jam's final live t.v. appearance.
The way this blends Mayfield's smooth soulfulness with a bit of the frenetic post punk energy is just *chef's kiss*
Foxtons bass is another level.

Thanks for all these clips. I really don't wanna be an old fart whining about how music was better then, but music was better then.
best band that ever lived...........
Great Band but best band that ever lived???🤔
Takes me back to my youth. Got to see the Jam in SF. It was assigned seating, but the very second The Jam hit the stage we all went nuts and rushed the stage. One of the best shows ever.
Yeah for me here is Paul and the jam at their very best. Great delivery
This is gold on so many levels. Can't believe I had not seen this. Thank you for making my day.

Still one of the best bands ever. Saw them live. Amazing. Weller and Co are legends
I had this whole gig on vhs. It was my first taste of seeing the styles of Rick, Bruce and Mr Weller. After that I was hooked.
Lopi jumper... front row left. Fond memories of late 70's / early 80's and the music, especially the Jam
Love Foxton’s bass

yes they alredy knew about the breakup. it was 5 weeks before there last ever concert.

When the cover is better than the original.
Typical example of a man who settled. He was once a god I guess that's the pop business

Yes, exactly. This Jam version is great but Curtis' voice is just pure soul!
Ford motor company uses the percussion in their 2022 commercial..... hmmmmm
Credit the horn section..
does anyone know how close to the breakup this was ? Did Bruce and Rick know what was coming ?

I love the music but I think he was struggling at this point
this sounds crap. the version on the Live Jam album rocks
This version is garbage compared to Curtis Mayfield's.
