    Is there any alternative to having to mud twice for the tile underlayment? Like some kind of backer board? Also what are the pros and cons of between the the muded down kind vs the screw down underlayment.

    • @lowes
      @lowes  Před 3 měsíci +2

      We don't recommend an alternative, although you can use backer board instead of the orange membrane. When installing large tile it’s always recommended to mud and apply your new subfloor because backboard or membrane won’t flex like plywood. It’s also helps when you have an older home or if your floor isn't even, and prevents any lippage down the road. Make sure to read your manufacturer's guidelines as some manufacturers also say you will void the warranty if you don’t use cement or mud to install prior to applying your tile.

    When does grout need to be sealed vs not?

    • @lowes
      @lowes  Před 19 dny

      Great question! It's recommended to seal grout that will be in wet or high-traffic areas. 👍

    A lot of steps were skipped and the lady put to much mortar on the back of the tiles, furthermore the grout was to thick doing that process.
