    The main problem in Las Terrenas is lack of planning. The growth that the real estate industry is promoting is not aligned with the availability of basic services (potable water, electricity, sewage, roads, etc)

      I do agree the city is working on catching up. There has been some projects announced on infrastructure improvement. The city will ultimately catch up. There’s no doubt about that but keep in mind. Lance was a small fishing village not so long ago it has made leaps and bounds of progress in the past decade even more so the last couple years don’t think that it will not catch up at a certain point. There’s a lot of attention on the infrastructure in opinion is to invest ahead of the infrastructure catch up because once it does… Game on guys

    • @ManuelGonzalez-on3ff

      I am sorry, I don’t agree that the city is working to catch up. The city council main job is to approve real estate projects without assessing the impact on the community. Like many politicians, the major says what the people want to hear but does not fulfill any of the commitments. This is very concerning

    Interview. I am very interested in Playa Coson. The way the mayor talked about it’s uniqueness about the open beaches and the Mountain View., luxury villas. Can’t wait to set up our trip to las terrenas the beginning of next year.

    Good chat with the mayor. Would love to see him interviewed several times a year or have virtual “town halls” to answer questions from locals, expats and potential investors.
    The big relocation was obviously The Reef now planned for the other end of Playa Coson and rebranded Silver Beach. Appears to have been scaled back.

    • @iLoveLasTerrenas
      @iLoveLasTerrenas  Před rokem +1

      Hey how are you? Thanks for watching. To my knowledge I believe silver beach is not the same project - it is another one. The reef is waiting on permits as are many projects. Silver Beach is an independent project from the same developer...does that make sense?

    As a Dominican I’m really impressed on how much local authority has improved , I spoken to some mayors and they really want to do more but their budgets are limited. The constitution states that all municipalities are supposed to get 10 percent of the countries gdp allocated to the municipalities but they haven’t been able to achieve that. I can only imagine how much they would be able to do if they had bigger budgets.

    • @iLoveLasTerrenas
      @iLoveLasTerrenas  Před rokem

      Yes this is a challenge. A lot is based on population and old numbers. A place like las terrenas needs an exception and larger budgets since it is growing so so fast. Imo

      I completely agree. It's imperative to e respectful to the culture here and not bring our brash and harsh cultural habits here - for example in driving. They beep their horns to say 'watch out I'm coming' where we beep it to say 'f you' in North America. Different mind sets. We are all here to keep away from that way of being.
