Hyper Labrador Puppy Practices Obedience Training At 1st Time Visit to Lowes

Ellie had her 2nd field trip to Lowes today as we begin her Public Access work. It’s hard to believe it’s only been a week with this easily distracted girl!
After being taught a solid foundation in obedience, I felt Ellie was ready to be flooded with what triggers her to disconnect the most - noise, people, movement, and new and novel experiences!
And there’s literally no better place to do this than a busy store like Lowes!
How on Earth is this possible in only 7 days after her owners claimed she was impossible to calm down?
Because I’ve made ALL of Riley’s choices for her from the moment she was left with me. We’ve patterned her behavior so heavily that she is now starting to default to me rather than impulsively act in ways that only serve her!
Every single interaction we’ve had has been based in Permission Only. This has slowed Ellie’s thought processing down, and has made her more self-aware. She’s started leaning more and more on me to manage every situation.
