The classic Simpsons always had these brilliant jokes like this. It'd subvert your expectations and then continue along that line to its logical conclusion.
@@Glitcher2000 I never said a word about modern Simpsons. I'll admit I prefer classic Simpsons over modern Simpsons, but that doesn't mean I don't think the show still has its moments. Nostalgia bias? Perhaps. Nostalgia is a natural part of the human condition, after all. While it's true that the sea of people who endlessly complain about the Simpsons can get repetitive and annoying, the same can be said about the sea of complaints about the nostalgic. But I'm sure we can both agree that the Simpsons having lasted for over three decades and spanning six presidential terms so far (seven if we count the shorts) is quite a remarkable feat that deserves recognition.
Way to look like a clown, clown. Maybe "old Simpsons good, new Simpsons bad" jokes would die out if they weren't the fucking truth all the time. New Simpsons had to invite Lady Gaga, your argument is invalid.
@@sXewriter1 Yeah, maybe it just doesn't quite match my sense of humor. I like the joke as is, the subversion that he was listening to the song rather than the children singing it. The tape name actually makes it worse for me because it causes me to keep dwelling on it due to defying logic completely; because why would anyone buy and listen to something whose entire point was to annoy you to begin with? If it was kept at it being a random song on a tape he bought sung by children as you'd expect to hear in a bus full of children, it would be a lot funnier to me simply because it's annoying to Otto out of happenstance of him being a bus driver, rather than obvious malicious intent that he intentionally subjected himself to.
@@ThornskadeI think the writer's thought it was funny to further question why Otto had a tape like fhat. Like, they're saying 1: Joke is the kids aren't actually singing, Otto's listening to a tape. 2: It's sort of absurd that Otto would actually have a tape with children singing bus tunes on it. An actual bus driver wouldn't have a tape like that! It was kind of a goofy/out of there joke on our part! We can laugh at ourselves and about how our joke's premise is kind of out there.
@@annabellelin7730 When jokes throw too much logic overboard I just don't find them funny anymore, in this case there is simply no conceivable way Otto would have purchased that tape
@@BrianRetro Ever play 45's at 78 rpm? I loved making them sound like chipmunks when I was a kid. I even entertained my one niece by doing that in the early 90's). 45's and 33's were so much more durable than 78's, if you dropped a 78, there was a good chance it'd be in 78 pieces.
We had freeze outs when I went to school in the 80's... in the winter on the way home everyone put down their window. It sucked if you were already sick or cold.
I grew up in the 2000s too and back in 5th grade we did sing songs (like Nikki Minaj, pit bull, etc not nursery rhymes tho) if the driver turned on the radio
I grew up in the 80's and 90's and yes, we did. They weren't nursery rhymes but more classic playground songs that would get us sent to the principal's office if we were caught singing them in school.
That tape had 1 day left until retirement
i'm surprised it didn't blow up when he threw it out the window...like everything else does.
😂😂😂
Turn tape over

I like how the kids are just sitting there staring, not even talking.
Even the twins are separated 😂
It’s almost as if that was the joke.
The first joke was good enough, but classic Simpsons went one further with the tape name. Awesome
Ehh honestly, I think the joke was fine without showing the tape name. At best it's a neutral addition, at worst it makes it seem a little too goofy.
@@ThornskadeI don't know. I watched this clip knowing the gag and completely missed that detail then starting laughing hysterically.

That is such a clever subversion *applauds like a rich man*
More like an inversion
Baby, you're a rich man too
Mmmyes indeed... (adjusts monocle)
Well he is enraged so the tape did it's job...
I just realized that otto wears headphones while driving.
Principal Skinner was an enraged driver on his first and only ever day as Otto's replacement lol
He steps on the clutch and the toilet goes flush, hail to the bus

@@joshosborne4934 What's funny about that scene is how Skinner starts off singing with the kids "He drinks and he cusses..." before losing it xD
Otto probably got the tape as a gag gift. And the tape probably came from a $1.99 pile in the music store.
Holy shit, that was so clever
My guess is he only read the words "bus drivers" and bought it just for that
He probably bought it along with his Psycho magazines and jar of mustard.
Wow, he has mustard?!
Songs to enrage bus drivers 😂👌

Whenever they have kids singing isn't it just Lisa's voice duplicated lots of times haha

Otto got rid of it just in time before he got to enraged lol
Otto Blotto.

Normally the children sit in pairs but they're all sitting alone in this episode because the Simpson's predicted social distancing. Epic.
