    The easiest way to start a wood stove I've found is using 3 normal size split pieces of wood and a few pieces of heavy corrugated cardboard. All it takes is to put two of the wood pieces parallel leaving about a 2" gap between them. Then fill the gap with a few pieces of cardboard. Finally, lay the 3rd wood piece digaonal across the top and light the cardboard. Leave the air inlet and flu damper all the way open until the fire is roaring which only takes a couple minutes if using soft wood like pine. This method works best with soft wood, so I start my fire this way with pine and then switch to the hard woods or coal after.
    Also, this doesn't work so well with logs. The split face of the wood is what ignites easiest, so I make sure the split side of all 3 pieces of wood is facing the gap with the carboard inside, including the top diagonal piece of wood.

      Thanks for the tip, I'll give it a shot. I always have corrugated cardboard around.

    I call those gears with missing teeth Alabama gears.

  • @nateross14
    @nateross14 Před 2 lety

    If someone didn't have a shift key stopper spacer, couldn't you just use the other 2nd gear and just grind all the teeth off one of the second gears that are now in the 6th gear spot? This would make 6th gear neutral.

    • @DocSprocket
      @DocSprocket  Před 2 lety

      Yes, that could be done. You would have to put up with the possibility of accidentally selecting that neutral when reaching for a high gear, but it would work.

    • @nateross14
      @nateross14 Před 2 lety

      @@DocSprocket One could always bolt a plate on the fender to stop the shift lever from going into 6th/ neutral, but your way is far more ideal. I just like to try and think of different ways to do things in case of being in a pinch and not having the right parts.

    • @DocSprocket
      @DocSprocket  Před 2 lety

      @@nateross14 Absolutely nothing wrong with that line of thinking. In a worst-case scenario, something to block the shifter would be fine!
