Sorry for such a late response, but yes, it does help, mainly kills off mold and using boiling water helps keep allege from forming. It’s not perfect but it’s a good cut back and will at least delay it, having some beneficial bacteria in the soil is good but there are other methods, I’ll do a deeper explanation eventually!
