    8 more fields in the sideboard is the most MHayashi thing imaginable

    • @Magic_M_Hayashi
      @Magic_M_Hayashi  Před 10 dny +2

      Yup! I just wish man lands were still as good as they used to be, because before I was known as the field guy, I was the man land guy (mutavault plus faerie conclave in Merfolk). The issue is that there's too much cheap removal now and too much card advantage, and more fields lol.
      Thanks!

    You know you could always play The One Ring yourself in decks like these. Ring is almost like a boardwipe, since it gives you protection for a turn -- especially in decks that can topdeck easily into boardwipes with Ring draws. You can even deal with your own Ring with all of your exile removal in a pinch, or outgain the life loss with Solitude/Tome. I also think playing your own Ring makes beating an opponent's ring a lot easier.
    If it were me, I'd cut 2 Winds and 2 Marches for 4 Rings.
    Also, against active Wrenn, you should NEVER activate Field effects (unless you need the white mana) when they can just plus and get back the land you destroyed. Just wait until you deal with the Wrenn, THEN go back to the LD plan. Priority #1 seems to be getting Wrenn out of play. You should also never hesitate to kill a Wrenn with a Skyclave if you have another way to beat a Ring in hand. (4C usually doesn't play counterspells)
    Finally, I really don't get the GQ effects in the sideboard. Bringing in a set of those lands for heavy-basic 2 color decks makes sense, and ONLY targeting basics with them, but 8 of those effects is too much. You could play Celestial Purge (it's very versatile) or Oblivion Ring perhaps.

      I tried one ring before, and it wasn't bad per se, it's just that it didn't make my matchup against any particular deck better, but did make my matchup against aggro decks packing burn worse (of which there are now more than there was back when I tested it).
      There's a reason Ring didn't end up getting banned. Sure it feels ban worthy when it's in your deck (Titan), but that's because you just need to draw enough combo pieces/protection like Caverns to overwhelm your opponent's defenses, then you win and never have to worry about losing to your own Ring. I don't have that luxury, I win at a snail's pace and usually can't race my own ring. Alternatively, we see ring in decks that either can gain a ton of life to offset the downside (especially Sheoldred decks), or in decks like 4 color Omnath that have life gain engines like Omnath and the ability to turn the corner quickly once they get control of the game and ideally also have at least a playset of free spells like Solitude so they can empty their hand efficiently after drawing so many cards.
      Lastly, about Wrenn and Ghost Quarter, after some more testing, I've already come to the same conclusion. Also, I've swapped Ghost Quarter for Blossoming Calm, which seems like a great way to protect myself from getting burned out and from mono red storm.

    You know what I felt missing? The restoration of eiganjo. Just like before, that card felt perfect

    • @Magic_M_Hayashi
      @Magic_M_Hayashi  Před 8 dny

      Yes, it was cut for Phantom. Honestly though, I'm starting to find another card to be better... You're not going to believe it... but Crucible of Worlds has felt very solid so far.

      @Magic_M_Hayashi oh I thought you switched the restoration of eiganjo with the inscribed tablet. I was about to tell you to try the crucible of worlds when I watched the video of control4daze titled "New Brew dismantled tier 1 modern decks." He was able to highlight the power of crucible worlds and the 8 fields, and it made me say, "This looks like an mhayashi kind of shenanigans." Looking forward to seeing your next video on mono white.

    I love this deck but at the same time it seems exhausting to play. Or maybe that's just the full league of control and midrange games

    • @Magic_M_Hayashi
      @Magic_M_Hayashi  Před 5 dny +1

      Yes, it can be a bit exhausting. Honestly, I find I'm having better results when I only play 1 or 2 games at a time then take a break. It's very taxing to play for a full 5 game league straight.
      I'm not saying it's like the most big brained complex deck ever or anything, but it's just that winning requires constant awareness of what's going on and any small mistake can be very punishing.
      This deck is probably not recommended for beginners, I'll say that much.

    No phelia or essence reliquary? I played rw 8 field last night and it was so good. Essence won me a game where I just kept picking up the same solitude and killing their merfolk for 7 turns in a row.

    • @Magic_M_Hayashi
      @Magic_M_Hayashi  Před 11 dny +1

      Reliquary looks interesting for sure. But Phelia seems like it will just eat a bolt or push and die, at least most of the few creatures I already play seem to, but thankfully they all have ETBs that give me value even if they do.
      Definitely thanks for sharing, I might try reliquary in the future!

      @@Magic_M_Hayashiyeah phelia eats bolts a lot but it having flash is really nice because they have less operant to interact with it, and it can get out of hand quick.

    why not just get lost the teferi in game 1 and attack face instead of attacking it endlessly? They can always just get another teferi if you attack it but their lifetotal wont regenerate as quick. And get lost on teferi stops the instant speed spells.
