    Thank you for the video. Although there was no debris in the impeller on my Bosch, I checked the whole area and found that the rubber check valve on the drain side was stuck due to not having used the dishwasher for a while. The symptom was the same as you describe in the video.

      Meant to say pry off tool/dentist pick, which BTW....i just today used your video to free up my drain pump impeller. Bosch is the best and quietest d/w i have owned, but also one of the MOST expensive. Bosch should design a better filtering method to avoid impeller jamming....should be a 2 stage filter, because as u noted, glass, and debris easily gets under main filter if not seated correctly. Historically i use a compressor fed air gun, after the filter is sprayed w Simple Green to loosen up the filter gunk, then blow it out, rinse Simple Green out w w hot water. Second stage filter , could even be a fine mesh screen in front of pump impellers. The very least w the Bosch hi tech control panel, they should have a sensor in the filter/monthly reminder to clean it. Unless there motive is for users to call a repairman and make revenue on spare parts? Hope not...great brand, but for $$$, they need to protect these plastic impellers from jamming a lot better!!

    Your video helped define the problem but mine looks totally different in the bottom after the filter is removed there was a mysterious hollow tiny black rubber foot/bumper (?) shaped like the top of a mushroom floating in about 3/16th inch of H2O. The plastic piece on the right front of the filter well is white while a dark gray roughly 1/2 inch tall by aprox 2.5-inch long curved piece fits along the back neither piece responded to wiggling or tugging so I did not try further to remove them. I did find a piece of plastic from the bottom rack of the dishwasher a bracket/guide pivot doohicky for the flip-up dish rack halfway in the outlet. Removing it turned up some stainless steel strands from a scrub pad stuck together with what is apparently Dog hairs... Questioning the Dogs elicited no confessions but testing proved the repair worked. So thank YOU! I don't think a repairman would show up without $$$$$$$ Lucre until after this Covid-19 paranoia. Again thanks Scott for the fix.

  • @tahusker

    I think this may be my problem with our Bosch. It just started today. Fills with water, then doesn't wash. Drains fine if I cancel. I can hear the machine humming. I did find a small piece of broken glass in the bottom of the washer. Removed filters and the little cover in front of the impeller. I can't feel any pieces in there--going to see if my bore scope camera can see anything. One thing, though. I can feel the impeller but it does not spin. Which direction should I be trying to spin it in to get it to move--clockwise or counter? I have a feeling there is something jammed which is why it won't spin . . . hoping I can see what it is and remove it.

    • @ScottTheFixItGuyChannel
      @ScottTheFixItGuyChannel  Před 9 měsíci

      Yep,
      It’s jammed with that broken wine glass.
      The impeller should be able to easily move in either direction.
      I hope you can get that glass sliver out.
      Maybe your bore scope and needle nose pliers👍

    My bosch dishwasher is doing the same thing, fills up and when it gets to the wash cycle it doesn't wash, just hums. I checked the filter and even removed the circulation pump from the dishwasher, pulled the cover off and the impeller moves freely. No blockages found, nothing anywhere in the sump housing of the dishwasher. I applied 120 volts to the motor and it just hums like when it was installed. I installed a new pump, same thing. I tried a new control panel with no change. It seems to go through the complete cycle but no washing, you can even hear the soap dispenser open when it should during the wash cycle, heater appears to be working, steamy inside when close to finishing. Any ideas? It is a SHX46A05UC/14

    Scott, I know this is an old video, but could you please, please help me? My Bosch dishwasher was off. All of a sudden by ITSELF, it started making this grinding sound. There were no lights on the panel and I could not get it to shut off. I turned it off at the breaker. Called Bosch, it's 14 months old out of warranty, she basically told me to call the service repair guy. I paid $630 for this machine, have hated it since day one as it does not dry the dishes and always has a musky / moldy spell.
    Do you have any suggestions on what's wrong, or should I just throw it out and get a different brand? If so, what brand would you recommend that will actually dry your dishes? Thank you so much for any help.

      @ScottTheFixItGuyChannel  Před 5 lety

      Hi Debbie,
      Some water got into the drip tray underneath the dishwasher and is activated the anti-flood system.
      As long as it has power it’ll just keep draining and won’t let any cycle start.
      If you remove the bottom panel and unplug it you can use a sponge to remove all of the water in the drip tray and then it will work.

    Hi. Thank you for this video. In my case I tested the pump with a voltage meter and it's receiving 120 volts..but the pump makes no noise what so ever and I can put my hand on it and don't feel vibrations of it working or anything... Is this normal or does this mean I have a bad pump? This is my first dishwasher and I brought it used..
