I had two of my own! I started out with 5 green looking monarchs, until my dad found out that they were black swallowtails. We found a brown worm like caterpillar too, which was very discolored and probably didn't make it. Either 3 of the black st. Ran away or didn't make it. That left me with 2 crysalises. During the winter, one of them fell of so now I only have one. I hope he/she survives!!!!
I have raised a lot of these butterflies 🦋. I currently have one and another cocoon is getting ready to hatch. The one that hatched the other day was a boy and I’m praying that the one that hatches tonight (it’s almost 3:00 in the morning here right now) is also a boy. I don’t need them mating and having babies
@@twaimzlover3132 wow! Thats really cool. When you said 5th grade I thought u were IN 5th grade right now. But 25 years old and 5th grade are very far apart hehe. Im in 6th grade right now. As for an update about the one that survived, I checked on it and it was empty. The next day I see a black butterfly flying in the neighbors yard, (they are black, right?) And Im hoping that he survived. Unless it was just a random butterfly lol.
I’m raising painted lady caterpillar’s right now and I see wings in the chrysalis so I think the butterfly is going to hatch today because I saw the wings yesterday
Well done for capturing this. I’ve tried filming this stage several times but it happens so fast that I’ve missed it each time. What time of day did this one come out?

Yes, if they mate its just more work, the babies are cute until you have to protect them until they hatch
Between the summer after 5th grade and this past summer I have raised 14 altogether. (I’m 25 now.) the one in the cocoon right now will be 15.

I released 40 this year,and between the catippilars and my chrysalises 63 for release next spring
