  • This time, I compare the two HF SDR solutions on the same platform: SDR Console.
Previously, I compared them using SDR# for the Ham It Up and SDRUno for the RSPdx. That video can be found at • Software Defined Radio...

It is nice to see comparisons on a common interface and DSP package. I believe the tests tell us how architecture hits limits as much as it tells us about how sensitive the radios are (or how they're better with a preselector and preamp).

    Thanks for the comparison.
I just recently ordered the "nooelec smart xtr ham it up plus" combo and probably should have looked at a few other sdr's first, particularly the rsp DX.
It looks to be a better unit without having to mess with hooking two different units together to get the lower frequencies.
Oh well, live and learn, I'll try it out and see how it does.
If I return it I'll probably get the Sdrplay DX.
    Thank you.

Hey, thanks for the video!!! I enjoyed it immensely!!! I use an RSP1 ($40 Not Original) and greatly enjoy not having to use an offset as with my RTL-SDR V3 / Ham It Up Combo! The RTL-SDR V3 does not require any offset when using it in the direct sampling mode, so your conclusion is correct, that the Ham It Up has some non-linearity issues in it's frequency conversion! The RTL-SDR V3 has imaging issues and no RF gain control with direct sampling though!
