- On routing maintenance, I ran into this evaporator coil with some dirt build up. Unfortunately, I didn't have a pump spray so I used an empty spray bottle. I clean the evap coil to make sure air freely goes through.
*Easy to assemble **Fastly.Cool*
A pump sprayer would come in really handy on jobs like that, just found your channel, I like how you do things, keep up the good work and the videos coming
Jobs like this I wish my company still stocked pump sprayers on our trucks. They replaced the pumps with the nu Calgon coil spray guns that attach to the hoses. The spray guns are easier for condenser cleaning yet not good for cleaning evap coils.
The HVAC Hacker I'm glad that we carry both in our vans, previous employer only used the spray guns you mentioned, I completely agree with you that they make condenser coil cleaning easy but they are not good for evap coils. Best of luck out there, I've enjoyed the content and forwarded it to a friend who is also a HVAC tech
Your forearm got a real workout. Informative thank you!
Yes I did, I didn’t have my pump sprayer on me. I wish I did this job would of been easier.
This is why they make pump-up sprayers.
The video would be half as long!
invest in a pump up sprayer
Simple green is the wrong cleaner to use on a coil, and you shouldn't just leave it on the coil it needs to be rinsed off with water. This is a good example of what not to do
he said in the beginning of the video that inside the spray bottle is "Mr. Foamy" coil cleaner, not actual simple green.
I wish I had my pump sprayer, yet had to just clean this up. The evaporator will self rinse itself. It’s a wet coil always dehumidifying. Yet I want to know what harm will simple green do to a coil?
The Northsquad is wrong about Simple Green however be sure to rinse well whatever coil cleaner you use. Also never use a wire brush. 👍🏼👍🏼
If nothing is stuck in between those fins no need for brushing. Just spray bottle with warm soapy water or warm water alone
Sorry, I didnt catch the cleaner you used. Is it just Simple Green?
Is there any product one could use to eliminate soiling/corrosion? Maybe, something like ceramic spray wax for cars?
Do you also clean the back side of the coils?
That depends if i am actually doing a coil cleaning. On a maintenance I don't have enough time with all the other work. Their is 7 RTU's on this roof and i only have 8 hours to service all of them
How much did you charge for that ? Or was that in clouded in the program ?
I use a battery sprayer for those bigger units..
Very dangerous to use a wire brush on the fins. Not too smart
You should use a pump sprayer its so much easier !
Yes it is. Usually I do use a pump sprayer
why cant I use simple green or purple power??
what brand coil cleaner are you using? thanks
..Mr. Foamy..
Engine degreaser from the local auto parts store works well.
Nice brush
Hey so can any cleaning liquid work or does it have to be "coil cleaner" ?
Soap and water??
How long before I can turn it back on?
I've used engine degreaser from the auto parts store with good results.
Had to fast forward - LOL
The Simply green does clean good though but Mean Green works better.
people....never ever use a heavy metal brush like that. it will bend those tiny ,thin metal fins on your ac...and it will never cool again. just crazy.
What type of brush is safe?
tooth brush. no pressure on it
Go to home depot and get a 12$ pump up sprayer...
I have pumps. I didn’t have anything on me and just wanted to get this done without a return trip
Not the proper way to clean. And why the hell would you tell people to use a wire brush? This video is the what not to do cleaning video
Brother, you need to use the proper coil cleaners that you buy at an HVAC store (Nu-Calgon). Not some Dollar Tree rinky dinky counter top cleaner!!!
Oh, and why are you using a brass wire brush up in those aluminum fins???? C’mon man, have some pride in ya work!!!!
oh, your working way to hard. Garden sprayer works way better.
Yes i think i mention it in my video. Didn't have one on me so did the best I could
@@thehvachacker You seemed like you would know this. I always try to think so I can work smarter and not harder. :-)
