I have just finished wild camping in Scotland along the Rob Roy Way. This Scottish hiking trail was created in 2002 and takes its name from Rob Roy MacGregor, a Scottish folk hero and outlaw of the early 18th century.
The Rob Roy way trail is 79 miles long and runs from Drymen to Pitlochry, taking in breathtaking highland scenery and passing through pretty villages and gorgeous stretches of forest.
I would rate it as one of the best Scottish hiking trails for beginners, due to the fact it is well signposted, doesn’t have a massive elevation gain and the majority of the trail runs along minor paths and cycle routes so the terrain is east to navigate in all weathers.
I rate this long distance hiking trail as one of my favourite wild camping adventures! Walking the Rob Roy Way was beautiful, and some of the stunning wild camping spots along the way really made it something special! From a glorious wild camp alongside Loch Venachar in the Trossachs National park, to pretty woodland and forest camps in the later stages, the trail offers up locations ideal for wild camping beginners.
We used the Hiiker app for its GPS map version of this route and would highly recommend it. It’s packed full of handy features.

For this trail I used a Salewa LITETREK 2 tent, Keen Targhee 3 hiking boots, Manfrotto tripod, I Phone 13 pro max, Sawyer squeeze filter and an Osprey Fairview 55 backpack

Awwww thank you!! I’ve been making more effort to try and get the editing and filming a bit slicker lol 😂… it worked in some parts! But it was such a lovely trail I think the scenery just spoke for itself x I can’t wait to get editing part 2 now 🤗 thanks for watching

Sorry to hear you had been unwell but good to see you back on the trail, especially back up in Bonnie Scotland, mind you....sun....blue skies...you sure you were in Scotland🤔. It looked a great trail to follow but not keen on the worming side of things😳. Looked a great place to camp but the sound of that running water would have me on the trot all night! What a brilliant walk and weather the next day to Loch Venacar and no, you can't get much better than that! Unbelievable that people would leave trash behind in a gorgeous place like that but on a positive note, what a stunning morning to wake up too and well done to Charlotte for going in for a wild swim, must admit, I would have done too, I like my morning shower and evening bath far too much not too. I cannot get over the weather you were getting, the scenery and the paths looked so easy to follow, looked a brilliant trail, cheers Alan

How was your winter? 😃 ahh thanks for watching, the trail was stunning and yes id say it’s easier 🤔 as a lot of it runs along minor roads and cycle paths which makes for easier walking sometimes … I think there’s less elevation too and of course it’s a slightly shorter route … equally as pretty though!

I like to refer to it as the Wob Woy way, Jonathon Ross style as it gives it a certain charm .. especially when your lips are too numb from the cold to say it any other way 😂😂😂🏴
