The opening action sequence of "No Time To Die" finds James Bond racing through the streets of Matera, Italy. Special effects supervisor Chris Corbould, who has worked on 007 classics like "GoldenEye" and "Skyfall," explains how the crew loaded the Aston Martin DB5 with gadgets, made a pristine vehicle look damaged, and how pouring soda helped cars and motorcycles speed through ancient cobblestone streets.

@@Lifelongloser James Bond is famous for its stunts, its scripts can be good but the one thing you can depend on is their good stunts, same with Mission Impossible. Also Fast & Furious definitely disproves that idea that movies are scripts not stunts, for studios in the end its about what makes the money. In comparison Fast & Furious 'stunts' are child's play compared to the amazing stunts done throughout the 24 bond films. I don't see a stuntman holding onto the back of a propellor plane or breaking their body holding on to the side of a train in any Fast & Furious films.

100%, the effort and work that goes into Bond stunts is way better than the combined stunts in F&F. Let alone how much in F&F is cgi. I wouldn’t even think of comparing those two films. For one, most films employ CGI in part. Even Bond used a helluva lot of CGI in Roger Moore and so did Sean Connery. So one film is just that, one film. It was also Daniel Craig’s last outing, so the budget was blown wrecking real Land Rover’s in the forest scene with the Toyota Land Cruiser. I saw the original Goldfinger DB5, at the Boston Garden, around 1965 or 66. Two were used in the movie but only one had the gadgets. It had been the Turin Auto Show show car before being used in Goldfinger. It fired blanks from the machine guns and shot a dummy out of the roof. After the show, several kids ran out on the floor and collected the shells.
That car was stolen from a hanger at the Boca Raton airport about 10 or 15 years ago and has never been recovered. It is thought it was out of the country,(and in a private collection) before it was noticed missing.

Can't say where the FX crew got the idea, but it's an old trick from indoor racing promoters. Wintertime race meets taking place on the slick concrete floors of convention centers use Coke syrup for a high traction surface. Also, slot racers applied sticky "glue" on their track surfaces for decades.
