    Excellent. I am going to test and compare the different options (XLR, wireless, various cable configurations, direct boxes).

      Great, that's what I did and had good results with all of them.
      Thanks!

      I'd like to know your conclusions.
      I just got one.

    So thanks for putting the information about that level knob and the gain at the very beginning. That is so important to understand. I’m getting ready to begin recording some songs on my DPOO8EX and I appreciate your video very much. I’ll probably comment more later if I have any questions. Thanks again for making this video.

    Excellent guidance as always, Joe. Haven't had much call to plugging directly in with electrics or electro-acoustics, as I'm using mostly ambient mikes, but good to know. I was thinking about a AKG wireless guitar set up a while ago with a Godin LGX or a Les Paul copy. Good reminder of keeping your cables on the shorter side. I get great reception of a local radio station with my old tube amp!

      I have a Line 6 G-30 but decided to try one of these self contained sets for recording and around the house. Batteries last long enough for an average gig, but I like a pack with replaceable batteries, just in case. But these little sets are really convenient.
      I actually have a neighbor who's a ham operator and yeah tube amps are great radio receivers lol. Thanks!

      Update...
      On guitars with active circuits, pickups or eq, I'm getting noise from the little self contained unit. Line 6 is silent. Your mileage may vary...

    I'm looking for a recorder that has drums and bass built in so that I can create songs with my guitar using multiple guitar tracks. Do you have a recommendation?

    bal cable means matched impedance in both channels, not necessarily 180 out of phase

    • @StudioonaStick
      @StudioonaStick  Před 2 lety +3

      True, the impedance is matched, but also in an xlr cable, pin 2 carries normal polarity and 3 pin carries the same signal inverted.

    Hey man!
    Can you record 2 guitar inputs simultaneously, for example from a stereo effects processor where the effect might be using 2 channels like perhaps autopan or ping pong delay?
    Thanks!

    Maybe you could find some guitar players that will actually record on it so we can actually hear the recordings. Everything you talked about, most guitar players learn in the first 6 months of playing . It's strange that the title you have listed reads recording guitars, except you didn't record any guitars.. Some people call it clickbait.

    • @StudioonaStick
      @StudioonaStick  Před 2 lety +3

      Maybe some people have been playing guitar for less than 6 months, pretty sure that that's possible.
      I just watched a video on reading comprehension and listening, I learned a lot, but during the video the author didn't do any reading or listening.
      Transcript of the first sentence of my possibly "clickbait" video,
      "Hey everybody, today we are going to"...
      And then there is the first sentence of the video description.

      Not clickbait. It helped me. And I am neither a beginner to guitars or TASCAM Portastudios. But yes it would be nice to hear some actual samples, including bad ones with hiss for comparison.
