Hi. I’m alive and so grateful for that. It’s been almost 23 years since I had my stroke. Left side paralysis. I drive!! I’ve watched my kids to grow up to be wonderful adults. I’m now a “Grammie “ of 4 beautiful little girls.

That's great! This year end would be my 30 years anniversary. Drove with the help of gadgets when doing business. Must treasure every moment & everyday!
Thank you for this response,am so anxious about me being alive to see my children get married and becoming a grandma too,had mine at the end of January but recovering very fast too,left side too,though am moving around now doing things for myself,but I don't have much confidence yet,but am grateful am alive and hoping and praying to be for a long time😁

Thank for this show, wit my 11/29/22 stroke i survived it. I will never drive again or work, my first 5 months was in bed with a Migraine headache like 5days a week. I lost like 15% physically just my mind is like 8 to 12 years old. That is why i cant drive or work, I have learned a lot from you. Left brain 100% blocked for 5 hours..... I feel like im 1% 0f people who had bad stroke but when people talk to me i hear different things and like to get mad a people for talking bad to me. I lost 85 pounds have long hair my tattoo and a gray beard. WTF im 58 years old. Im ok..
6 years post hemorrhagic stroke. Left brain , right hemiplegic .
Some may be wishful thinking, some a type of placebo effect , but sincerely , as long as I keep practicing , like any exercise , I improve.
Recovery , as far as what I lost , I know will not happen. So I avoid that word ; " recovery "
Healing, re learning , many words describe this journey . I refuse to think of an end point. Decay is inevitable , it is called old age .
But I honestly believe I can improve greatly and I shall keep shooting for that goal .

I just want to get as mobile as possible. I'm 2 year out from my Ischemic stroke...left side affected. Its been a slow process..still not able to use left arm, hand or leg yet.

Thank you so much for this video🙏🏼 You have really helped me to stay hopeful ☺️My father had a stroke 5 months ago and he is experiencing constant dizziness and numbness on his right side, I worry that this won't go away however we are staying hopeful. I think the scariest part is that there is no definitive answer with how recovery goes since everyone has a different experience 💔
I’m glad you made this video. I know personally that I struggled with timeline in the first few weeks. I wanted to be better the same day and that’s just not realistic. I personally had to ask God to use his timeline to heal me as much as I meant to be healed of the time, I meant to be healed, and to take away my personal timeline. That was the only thing that gave me peace, and let me stop focusing on when the recovery would happen, but on what recovery was happening. As I said, that’s what gave me peace and help me not be as frustrated with the process as I had been. I think your video will help a lot of people.
I think that's a very normal response, to want to be better ASAP. When anything life-altering happens, of course we want things to go "back to normal." I love what you said about not focusing on WHEN recovery was happening but WHAT recovery was happening. This is one of the best mindsets and I'm glad you were able to get there. Yeah, I get that question lot since it been my year and 2 mos now since my stroke and I tell everyone I'm making progress slow but surely and that's all I can say. I have made great progress I work a front desk job now 5 days a week and work 6hrs a day, plus I drive my self to and from my job, I'm walking with my cane and use my effective hand 50% of the time, plus on many job I work at a pool so I swim every other day, So I just thank God just being alive. Thanks again for your video it keeps giving me hope

Hello how severe was your stroke ? Could u talk or respond to commands ? Did u have any memory? Or realization about what happened to you
@@carmella88 Hi! I am able to talk and respond to commands. I remember what led up to it and what happened immediately after, but didn't have the MRI that confirmed I had what turned out to be multiple strokes until 2 months later. I remember being stressed over a musical public performance that day. I was able to play at it, but noticed my musical ability gradually decrease over the next 6 months until I can no longer play my instrument, was kicked out of my band, and lost my ability to speak fluently. I am no longer decisive and second-guess myself constantly. The videos here help me to maintain what I still have.

@@SbongileIrene-ce7ni I use apps to help me remember appointments I've made and bills that need to be paid and CZcams videos of stroke survivors to help me maintain my sense of gratitude. I am very stubborn and work hard to improve the areas where I am weak. I write more things down and post them where I have to see them. I am pulling for you in improving your concentration.

I notice how I'm recovering, relapsing, and then recovering again sometimes. My eyesight has been affected by no less then 4 posterior strokes. Some days I bump into everything and everyone, other days I feel like my sight is almost back to normal functionality. The good days are wonderful, on the bad ones I cling to the knowledge that it's a back-and-forth process.
I have noticed that your exercises make a big difference. Through the exercise I am now walking smoother around the house. I think its been 6 months since I had my Sub Cordial stroke, which left me temporally weakened in my right side.
Also I am autistic and repeated movement is something I do everyday. I now do the weight shifting exercise as my movement. :) One thing I do recall is I was/am very positive and that might really help with recovery.
Other things I did/do now is piano, touch typing and drawing, and I have also made covers by sewing. All these really help with my recovery
One of my goals is to improve enough to attend to my fruit and veggie organics garden.
Stay positive, keep safe and listen to your body.
My wife has terrible non stop head aches since her mini stroke 11-28-2003.
That's how it all started for her. She had a mind numbing head ache in her fore head and no medicine would stop that head ache. Her blood pressure was 220 and her sugar was 260 when we wound up in the hospital one Saturday morning.
It happened Tuesday before when she texted and asked what our dogs name was. We should have gotten her to the hospital that night but just didn't know. We thought the head ache was causing her confused thinking.
Confusion is a sign!
My advice after having a stroke at the age of 44, be sure that Jesus is Lord and savior of your life! And push yourself in recovery/ therapy, it’s a struggle but keep pushing! Don’t give up!

Every stroke is different, I seen people fully recover in a few months, but for me I had a massive brain bleed due to an AVM and my recovery is slowed by spasticity. I still can't lift my arm and my walk is limp. I'm still trying every day, but I say this to say this, some people will never be the same again or back to " normal" That's reality.
You are 100% right. Every recovery is different and that’s why the timeline is different, as well. Thank you for sharing a bit of your story!
@@PostStrokeOrg I'm going on 9 months post stroke. I will say having a strong support system helps as well as having a good therapist. therapy paid by insurance can be a bit of a waste in my opinion. You only get a certain number of visits and sometimes they don't even give you the full hour. I will admit this leaves me feeling discouraged, like I'm wasting my time, but I will say, I do way more at home on my own. I was told by my therapist that I reached my peak or hit my plateau. smh
Yap through the years i been through, people eyes are never the same. Do not be
discouraged. Be glad that you are still alive. My AVM has healed & thanks to my doc in Spore and UCSD. Determination is the best. Never give up!
@@jasminekom8382 yep, though I'm discouraged, I'm still trying. I got my 3rd degree belt a week before my stroke and played basketball every week. I was a super athlete. This will take time to grasp. AVM is out of our control. I'm happy to be alive for sure but It's hard when you can't live how you want. I'm glad your AVM is healed, I got mine removed in February and won't know for sure until my yearly follow up, if it's gone for good.. Thank you.
I can understand feeling discouraged. I became so frustrated with the way the healthcare system works, I made this channel! So I get those feelings. And plateaus are normal but recovery doesn’t have to stop there ❤️

Awesome as always. Can u please do another video for toe movement. I have left sided weakness. Trying to do more and more everyday. I walk with a cane. My footdrop isn't that bad but my toes are usually stiff. Thanks
Coming up on 3 month anniversary, finally back to work-still struggle with brain fog and cognitive issues it causes. Trying hard to give myself grace, and would like to have brain exercises to do.

I'm a 60 y/o female and had a stroke during covid. Apparently there was/is a connection between the 2. Praise God at how far I've come. Balance and vertigo remain these years later. If there are any hints I'd love them😊 bless you!

as a stroke survivor, i would suggest not comparing pre stroke with post stroke.

This is encouraging, since rehab specialist must follow insurance guidelines; and I am at 6th month and have great progress, and progress continues, but rehab doctors will follow insurance guidelines, and they will not recommend further rehab
Set up your own program...set goals of all types...do chores...you are strong!

I just got to my bathroom n next thing I know I was on the floor...
My mum is my lifesaver. She passed on 1May '23.
Now, I'm more concerned about the stroke not happening again coz now I'm alone..whose to call the ambulance 😥
I’m so sorry to hear about your recent stroke and your mom’s passing. Those are two really hard things to go through back to back. Maybe consider a health alert bracelet or necklace as a just in case and make sure you have a Buddy system with someone you can check in with daily❤️

all depends, a nuro dr in florida has been treating stroke patients with EMBREL..even people that had their stroke more than 3 years later with great success.
I’m glad that they found what worked for them. Always important for you to check with your doctor on what treatments will be most effective for your specific situation.
@@PostStrokeOrg P.S...he has been using EMBREL since 2009 and has treated over 3000 storke patients. has had around 75 /85 % success rate...but since it is what they call " off lable " vast majority of nuro drs what even talk about it.. that is a shame since we are all " an experiment of 1 " that is why they are doing designer cancer drug treatments for each individual person... from my understanding , after a stroke there is inflammation and EMBREL helps reduce inflammation in the spinal cord and that inturn some kind of way , they dont know why or how helps signals get back in flow so people can move the arms or legs and stand and sit... just my 2 cents

What are the symptoms that will make him go to the doctor.. and I believe symptoms of aphasia are that person wants to speak but is unable to.. also can aphasia last life time by any chance? Because i want my character to have it lifetime even after trying so many ways to treat it

Depends on if your hospital was on the ball and you have a good Dr. Neither has been the case for me. Six months and still have not seen a neurologist to even fully assess the damage or what I should do. Hospital did not diagnose me and discharged me the next day. It took weeks to even get a diagnosis. So?
It definitely helps when you can get necessary and appropriate care! I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. That sounds incredibly frustrating.

I got stroke last year June 24,am improving but I can't afford the medication and physiotherapy, I thank God this far he has brought me because he has never left me,sometimes I feel like giving up in life because I can't afford my medication and therapy.

I highly recommend that anyone considering this reach out to their physician or neurologist do discuss risks vs. benefits, as well as read this article from Flint Rehab on the subject: www.flintrehab.com/etanercept-stroke/#:~:text=For%20the%20treatment%20of%20stroke,drug%20to%20enter%20the%20brain.
The American Academy of Neurology (AAN) states that there is insufficient evidence to determine the effectiveness of Etanercept for post-stroke disability.

How long will the tingling be gone. Its been 15 months since I have my stroke. I feel the tinglig on my right hand to arm to my elbow. Is there a therapy to alleviate it? Im taking 200mg Gabapentin 3x a day. Thanks and will appreciate any coments…

I have a MCA strock on this March2023 almost six months dan can I expect my wrist and fingers mument back left side.?
My brother’s Stroke was massive, he will never recover!
I guarantee nobody will be as strong as. they where before their stroke. We may recover from our stroke, but we will never be ninety percent. It is very hard for me to cut a pizza or open a can, but i eefuse to ask for help. It has been six months and im still independent but its a struggle

@calabriagirl4202 That is very true. Strokes affect every person differently. Stroke and heart attacks are the number three cause of death in the United States.
