- In this video, I take you to my girlfriend's favorite spot in District 5, Saigon, Vietnam, to try some of the best bánh canh cua (Vietnamese crab noodle soup) in the city. This place is super popular, and for good reason! The crab noodle soup is incredibly flavorful and filling, with a rich broth made from crab, pork, and shrimp. The noodles are perfectly cooked, and the crab is fresh and sweet. If you're looking for a delicious and authentic Vietnamese meal, be sure to check out this spot!
The exact location of the restaurant is:
Bánh Canh Cua 14 ️
221 Đ. Trần Bình Trọng, Phường 3, Quận 5, Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh
Banh canh cua is a Vietnamese noodle soup made with thick, chewy noodles made of rice and tapioca flour. The cake-like noodles are drowning in a delicious, savory yellow broth and topped with various items such as:
-crab
-fish cake
-crab cake
-shrimp
-mushrooms
-green onions
-Vietnamese doughnuts
-and more!
We eat this noodle soup and give you a signature Dank Rank Food Review.
Any foodies traveling to or living in Viet Nam should definitely try some bánh canh cua!

Coming to Vietnam next summer, definitely gonna try that place, looks delicious and amazing. Love you guys food tour videos, almost as much as the bingo one😂!!! How'd the apartment hunt turn out?
I hope you enjoy your visit! Thanks! The apartment hunt was good I'll make a video about my new apartment and upload it soon.
Feel like Saigonese wakes up at night and goes out to eat with a million choices of food and drink. Love it
yeah there are definitely a lot of night time options in this city for food and entertainment
Love your food videos. Definitely going to check this place out.
thanks! yeah it's a great place I'm sure you're going to love it!
Love watching your video, especially when your Gf with you fun sharing the food.

My ultimate favorite dish along with bun bo hue yummmmmmm! 😋😋😋😋

Absolutely incredible
The dank 😃
Good show I enjoyed it thumbs up
Thank you very much!
Anh ấy cầm đũa chuyên nghiệp quá
😀
I used to live very close to that restaurant. It's always busy, in particular, with the younger generations.
nice I like this area of district 5. and yeah it's a really good restaurant!
Looks delicious! That place is bustling with customers. Henry Ford efficiency 😆
haha place is pumping out bowls by the second!
😎👍
Cheers bro
Watermelon juice is delicious. I had it in Malaysia. Unfortunately, we cannot get it in Europe, at least the fresh variety. After seeing you try these delicious dishes, I have decided to visit Vietnam next year, finance and health permitting.
That's awesome! I hope you have a great trip!
I'd rank banh canh cua up there, too, but I'd have asked for extra quay (whole one, not one that's cut up as I like to hold mine and dunk it whilst I eat). Where do you rank bun rieu or bun bo Hue then?
Nice maybe next time I'll ask for a whole piece. I'm not sure exactly where I'd rank bun rieu or bun bo hue overall, but id give the slight edge to bun bo hue in a head to head matchup bun bo vs bun rieu
That broth yellow is from hột đều màu ( Annatto Seed)
ah right, thank you!
How long does it take to go from one district to another?
Short answer: it can a long time or not too long at all
it depends on the district and how big it is, which district you are trying to get to, etc. District 4 is quite small in terms of land area, so getting from district 4 to either district 7 or district 1 is a relatively short drive. But if you're in the southeastern most edge of district 7, it can be a pretty long drive to just get to district 4 or district 8. Kind of a tough question to answer, but I hope this helped
Haha! It tastes better when your girlfriend squeezes the lime. How does she keep a straight face at your jokes? Does she get them?
haha she does get them but she's so used to it now that I guess I need to step up the humor to get a laugh 😅
For me, bun bo hue, then bun rieu, then banh canh, then mi kho nam vang, then mien ga. 😋😋😋
Solid list with some heavy hitters. I’m not sure if bun rieu would ever get in my top 3 but 🤷♂️….is the mi kho nam vang hu tieu kho?
@@BigTimeBentley Yes. 😇 In general, I like "mi" better than "hu tieu" ...so I will always order mi instead of hu tieu; and I prefer the "dry" nam vang version vs. the "soup" version. 😋😋😋 "Nam vang" refers to "Cambodian style" noodle soup. 🍜 😋😋😋
@@anonymousperson2345 ah very cool. I’ll go try that some time
@@BigTimeBentley 😇👍💛 I'm pretty sure you've had hu tieu nam vang before. Maybe you just didn't know that's the name of the soup, i.e. hu tieu Nam Vang (Phnom Penh style noodle soup), hu tieu My Tho, hu tieu Sate (Chinese style), hu tieu nguoi Hoa (Chinese style noodle soup), etc...[Vietnamese calls Chinese people who live in Vietnam "nguoi Hoa"]. 😇😇😇
@@anonymousperson2345 I think I’ve had hu tieu nam vang but I haven’t tried a dry noodle variation
What is the exact address For this Banh Canh Cua 14?

@@BigTimeBentleyis your girlfriend also an expat, Bentley? She speaks English really good. I am a new subscriber to your CZcams and thumb up for you, Bentley.
@@jonathanluong4855 cheers thanks for watching and subscribing! No, she's a Vietnamese native.
BTW, banh canh cua was believed to have come from the Mekong Delta. The udon-style noodles are probably a Japanese-influence, though. The quay (fried dough/breadstick) is of Chinese origin. I've seen places serve banh canh without quay and I'm like, "Banh canh isn't complete without quay!" Gotta be able to dip the quay in the broth! That's how I grew up eating it, but when I mention how quay is eaten with banh canh or chao, other Viets tell me that's Chinese-style...um, okay, as I born and spent my younger years in Laos in a Vietnamese community and that's how we ate it.
very interesting insight thank you. Whatever style it is, give me more doughnuts! 😀
Bánh canh cua originated in Huế. Bánh canh giò heo originated in Mekong Delta. The former is thick while the latter is just like other kinds of soup.
@@Mouse2409 ah cool thank you for the insight!
@@Mouse2409 Thanks for correcting as when I googled, that's what I found...probably wikipedia, which is not necessarily always true. LOL
Sorry was that a food vlog ? I kinda got distracted by the hottie sitting next to your hottie 😇😇😇🥰🥰🥰
Hahah understandable 😆

Banh canh cua originated from Vietnam per Wikipedia. Your broken Vietnamese makes your videos interesting.
Interesting...and thank you! Hopefully now that I just started taking lessons my Vietnamese will improve. I have my second lesson this Wednesday.
