Dear Pawrents of Hugo and Isa, I am a medical professional from here in the U.S. (Massachusetts). In looking at this newest video update, and after having looked at the previous video, I've made the following observations: Hugo, clinically--and by virtue of his lab results, is dehydrated--the labs reveal what appears to be a pre-renal (dehydrated state; BUN elevated). Additionally, the serum creatinine (a renal marker) is high--presumably from the pre-renal/dehydrated state. If labs were repeated at some point after the I.V. infusion, the rehydration efforts (including Hugo sipping fluids again) would likely help to confirm whether the BUN and creatinine were elevated solely as a function of dehydration. The decreased oral intake, as well as vomiting and diarrhea (possibly from food poisoning/something he ate outdoors or via infection parasitic infection from a stream/ or an enterovirus), all contributed to his dehydrated state. With the BUN and creatinine levels high; the opioid pain medication and the underlying cause of the actual vomiting and diarrhea, Hugo *will* experience nausea. In my humble opinion, until a possible gut infection is resolved, hydration (in my mind) is of paramount importance for Hu. Even if that means with the use of a syringe, feeding tube or other means. Also, I would be very cautious about the pain med.--given its nauseating effect. Best wishes for our Hugo!!
I don't have any professional training in animal care, but I recently went through a very scary episode with my own small dog. He's 15 years old, and he starting vomiting, it lasted a few days and he dropped weight very quickly. I took him to the vet and his blood test showed something was wrong with his liver. They gave him a shot to stop the vomiting, and gave us a couple more anti-nausea pills and some antibiotics. That stopped the vomiting, but he wouldn't eat. I couldn't afford to pay for an ultrasound, so I researched what to feed him in order to heal his liver naturally. I didn't have plain yogurt at home, so I used cottage cheese (these help to repair the gut microbiome). I added a bit of plant based protein powder and some organic bone broth. I blended this into a smooth, thick shake and I used a syringe to squirt the shake into the back of his mouth. He wasn't happy, but he did swallow it. I syringed him every few hours for many days. I always offered him fresh food. Finally one day, he started to eat the food on his own. I never gave up on him and he continued to improve. It took several weeks, but he has bounced back and is now enjoying his full meals and walks again. I adore Hugo and Isa and I'm praying for his recovery.

Dr. Scott, given Hugo's nausea and inability to eat right now, do u think his parents might try getting something like ondansetron or even an over the counter like omeprazole or ranitidine to help calm his stomach and help him eat, maybe something like baby food or liquified food? I know that has helped my dog in the past when he has had bad stomach upset. Also, thanks for your help. I do wonder if hugo just got into something a little toxic outside and that is now straining his renal system. We are all routing for Hugo and his family. Love them all so much!

I don't think they should be sending him home, but keeping a closer eye on him in the hospital. Symptoms can change so quickly and his are not normal at all. Praying for a full recovery. 🙏🏽
They killed this boy he shouldve been kept there on 24/7 ivs to fix him

Oh, you guys! 😪 Sending lots of love and prayers for Hugo! Poor baby! 😥 When my pug, Binky got wouldn't eat, I rubbed honey on his gums, and then fed him 1/4 cup white rice with a little unsalted butter, 1/4 cup garden peas, 1/4 cup ground chicken, plus 1 teaspoon turmeric powder, and a tiny pinch of black pepper mixed in. He was 13 years old when he passed away. He suffered with hip dysplasia, and would stop eating when he got sore, so I know the worry. Get better, Hugo! Love from Hannah, the toy poodle, her kitty, Sprout, and me. 💖💖💖

Stay strong. My frenchie went through issues this spring with spinal problems. She became paralyzed and would not eat or drink anything for a week. She spent 3 days in the vets office on steroids and muscle relaxers, nothing helped. We thought that we may have to put her down because she was in pain and we could not pay for neurology surgery. However, after we brought her home and just gave her love and support (along with a host of other drugs) she slowly got better and now, even though a bit slower, she is close to normal. I am praying for you, I hope the same for Hugo. Love always

I went back to watch the videos of when he was sick before and he seems to have the same simptoms. I don't think is his spine. Has to be his heart. I can't stop crying. Please check his heart with some deep test. Praying for our beautiful Hugo. We adore him and Isa.
If it was his spine he wouln't be able to walk or he would do it crying from pain.

Boiled chicken with rice (no spices) Plain Yogurt ... You have to get him to eat !! Use a turkey baster to insert water put it to the side of his mouth inside in an upright position maybe you can get him to swallow some of it .... I'm feeling so sad for such a sweet little guy who deserves a chance at a life ... Prayers and blessings to the 4 of you ...

White rice and boiled chicken is wonderful for upset tummy. As others have mentioned also maybe he ate something, the rocks and sticks made him ill. I just want Hugo to feel better. We all love and pray for him and Isa and his Mommy and Daddy. ❤️🤗🙏🥰😘

@@isatom.frenchies Check the color of his gums.. Healthy color is pink any other color is a sign of serious internal problems ... He shows signs of being a Anemic being lethargic,decreased appetite and he has no appetite, yellow gums, weight loss .... and you mentioned the vomiting and diarrhea ...
I have a 12 - year old Pug who had EXACTLY the same symptoms. He had a massive stomach inflammation and simply would not want to come close to his food (which he loves to eat). He was shivering and expressed no interest in anything.
It took about a month an probably 8-10 visits to the vet to heal him. First week, we took him every day to receive infusion so he would have strength to push through.
Second week I watered down canned food and used a syringe to force feed him. He was not be able to keep it all down but some of it he did.
Tried multiple anti inflammatory medication but he would not keep them down. He would throw up as soon as he would take it. This went on for 3-4 weeks.
Finally, I read about the Noni juice and its anti-inflammatory benefits. I gave him 2 syringes of the juice and within 15 minutes he took his first few bites of food on his own.
A week later, and daily intake of the noni juice, and he is fully recovered and acts like he was half his age.
I don’t know if the juice had anything to do with it or not or whether this was his immune system that finally beat the inflammation but it is worth a try if you can find to buy it in Slovenia

Hi sorry to hear he is not well! Just wanted to add my little bit. We have a french bulldog male who had the same symptoms. After sometime time with the vet they worked out it was meningitis. After injections and care he was cured. Just thought worth mentioning! My thoughts are with you! x
