- Arnold Boxer Walker was born in Kells, Whitehaven on April 15, 1952. He died on May 12, 2022. The scrum half played almost 300 professional games for Workington Town, Whitehaven, Cumberland, England and Great Britain. In 1979, he was voted the best scrum half in the world by Open Rugby magazine. He was held in the highest esteem across the rugby league world and he was loved even more by family, friends and fans for his kind, thoughtful, generous and sometimes mischievous personality.
This tribute has been put together by Mike Gardner, who wrote Boxer´s much acclaimed biography, Boxer - The Life of a Cumbria Great.
