  • In this video i share how to set the water in the caravan. It doesnt matter what make or model, all caravans have pretty much the same system. Getting rid of those pesky air locks on a standard or serviced pitch is easy following these few steps.

    Ah yes, the disappointing dribble of a yellow-tap error... or the sprint to the offside sofa, dive under it as quick as possible, trap fingers in hinges, swear loudly, jump up, hit head on raised sofa, trap arm as weight of cushion collapses whole thing on your arm... yep... been there. Only once though... honest ;)

    Hi Dan great video
    We fill our Aqua Roll up when we arrive then I use a cheap watering can and funnel from the pound shop to top up
    This way its just a little and often going to the stand pipe
    Plus they weigh nothing in the front locker

    Instead of emptying out the aquaroll at the drain, I pump the remaining water to flush out the drainage pipework (and any drain hoses on a super pitch). It leaves them a lot cleaner and less stinky for next time.

    Good info as always, we all forget to close the valve.🤣🙃

    I got some new white waste pipe the diameter just smaller than the aqua roll opening and cut it to the exact length to the top of the aqua roll opening. I insert inside and put pump in and this keeps the pump dead straight and on the bottom of the aqua roll so you get maximum amount of water. I did cut slots at the bottom of the pipe to allow maximum flow. I carry two aqua rolls as my good lady and I both shower in the morning so I always put the full one in place before showering. Sometimes I lay them on their side and connect the two together and for this I did cut a shorter piece of pipe to go in the side entry of the aqua roll.

    Good insightful video. We use a jug to collect the water when pulling it through the taps, then either fill the kettle or pour it back in the aqua-roll. Yes I've forgotten to close the drain down valve a few times aswell. 😂

    I don't think there has been a time where i have remembered to close the yellow tap, It's always a case of "I hear running water from somewhere" followed by OH! and lots of running to get to the tap under the seat. Its the best way to get some cardio in :D looking forward to seeing your next videos always enjoy them :D

    Hi Dan hope you get well soon. I’ve left that valve open as well. I always drain my water system into my wastemaster as it gives it a free wash out. Dave Birmingham

    Hope you get better soon! Take care! Not done it yet! I've got it to look forward to! I suppose? I've always collected the drain water in my waste master, not cos someone said i should it just made sense to me. I'm glad there is a good reason to do it. I've always thought I was in the minority doing it, though?

    Hi Dan great vlog, very informative as normal and yes I have pumped the whole contents of the aquaroll on the grass, you mention in a previous vlog that your new caravan has a water tank and you are going to fit a water filter to it,, I have a Weinsberg Caravan fitted as standard with water tank and filter (bought it new), after my first years use I decided to replace the filter but was horrified with the cost, I think it was £150+, so looked for a cheaper alternative, and came up with an inline fridge water dispenser filter, and with a couple of alterations to the pipework it has worked and costs £20 per season, I have used it now for 4 years, drinking water tastes great hope this helps as one caravaner to another. Regards Bob, (Company I used was UK Waterfilters)

    In our caravan I keep a length of 32mm diameter rigid PVC waste pipe. One end is cut at an angle with the other end straight(ish). It’s roughly 20mm (3/4”) longer than the gap between the tip of the kitchen tap and the sink below. This easily slips over the tap when first filling the system and stops any splashes (and wet things you then have to dry). The angled end at the bottom ensures any water comes out easily. It’s light weight and takes minimal room in the pan drawer.
    I’m certainly a member of the “forgot to close the drain down valve” club 🤚🤚🤚
    I hope you are feeling better soon.

    If like us you always use the van shower, it is much easier if you use a second aquaroll. Stops the need to fill up the aquaroll before it is empty.

    • @davidlewins4631

      I've seen many use two aquarolls, I always wonder would it not overflow the wastemaster? It is a good idea but the thought of having to empty the wastemaster anyway made me think if it was worth it? If there is a reason why it doesn't then off I trot to the accessory shop! Is the wastemaster capacity 80lt?

    Good video. Just one point. On serviced pitches I always use a water connection from tap to the Aquaroll with a float valve. I don’t trust a connection direct to the caravan. If the pressure limiting valve fails it might subject your caravan pipe work to full mains pressure which could blow it apart.

    • @TheTrudgians
      @TheTrudgians  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Morning,
      ve heard many folks mention this, but the truth is, if they fail they block up. If somthing snaps, or gives way - the pressure from the mains causes the workings to block, hence not pass anything through.
      Ours did break and block up, it passed a very low amount of water. We ended up going back to the Aqua roll solution, simply because we always have the Aqua roll on board, so might as well make use of it somehow!!
      Take care, and happy new year.
      Dan

      @andrewsutton4926 Před 6 měsíci

      @@TheTrudgians I've heard this, too, Dan, and because it's seemingly written in to caravan folk lore I'm really reluctant to try it - I mean this goes back 25 years or so to discussions with my grandparents and parents (and I'm only 34 now). Reluctant to try it, but eager to ditch as much weight as I can if I am on a service pitch for example. If you get chance would you do a comparison video between a direct connection and a float valve connection, explaining what you outline above? Then again... I could just buy a Colapz bucket and leave the aqua roll and float at home!

    personally we think it is poor etiquette to drain out onto the ground, leaving a big wet patch for the next occupant (who sometimes will be arriving within minutes of our departure on a CS with a 12 noon departure/arrival time for example). We always drain out into our wastewater holder - we carry a big funnel to make aiming easier from the drain into the wastewater carrier. get well soon, hope it isn't too bad.
