I learned how to shoot the bow without crosshairs and it was much more satisfying. I don't understand why people don't appreciate a small struggle for a bigger payoff.
Because people are idiots overall
Most are raised or shaped by society to seek the shortest way to payoff.
Exactly. All it took was a little practice and it shot perfectly well. The combat system, which many people criticize, was also perfect. All I had to do was learn various tricks from Bernard and I really enjoyed the fights.
Exactly. Besides as I grew up I fell in love with tactical shooters that didn't use crosshairs, which to me is always the better design. Sure you can aim down sights, but I got to a point where I would always turn off crosshairs in a COD campaign. Wouldn't want KCD any other way. How do you think people aim bows? You just gotta get a feel for it.
@@radeksasinek5838my only problem with the melee combat is the auto lock function when fighting more than one enemy
"You can still paint a dot on your screen" - so glad that feature will be included in the sequel xD
I mean i don't even know why would you need that dot crosshair for bow i tried it and i felt it's worse because it's not very accurate where it will fly it's better without it.
Must have taken quite a long time to program it! 😂
HENRYS COME TO PICK US - some herb probably
Halberds have also been confirmed 👍🏻
it's crazy how much controversy there is around a small static cross in the middle of the screen
well I think that is one of the many features that seperates this game from others
the funny thing is that there is always a crosshair on the screen unless you actually need it
@@Caes3r_ Bow would be even more OP then tho xD
@@Caes3r_ thats cuz orientation in 3D space in the first person view. It is an anchor point for your eyes.
great job, can't be bothered to listen to the original interview for 30 minutes so this helps 👍
Im glad they didn't fold under the pressure of some ppl whining about the reticle.
i can hear Henry say: good Kitty...or something similar
Ah I'm relieved. No crosshair is the best crosshair. Learn to do it yourself. Immersion. I love these devs.
Edit: I already knew about the visor button, but that's such a big one. I'm so excited for launch
I just want them to completly remove the crosshair that ugly yellow dot is annoying and not helpful for anything
@@Caes3r_ I don't mind it for general stuff. makes it easier to interact with small items quickly. you can turn the opacity down too
@@Bassalicious i have installed a mod for it already. Is there really an opacity setting for it?
@@Caes3r_ No I just checked, it's also a mod. mb
I love these guys so much. Everything they do is great
Picking herbs was kind of a calming thing for me. Just go out there and pick some herbs... I remember I was overloaded and my horse was full and I picked herbs back towards town. Very relaxing.
A was overloaded by herbs mostly :)
Great interview!
I hope this is hud options that i can turn of I want. And i really hope there will be a hardcore mode later on:)
We do not need a crosshair for god sake… maybe a very light dot but honestly the struggle is what makes it satisfying ..
i absolutely DO need crosshair. if it's not there i'm just going to mod it back in again. shooting bow is fun. missing 9 out of 10 shots isn't fun.
fun > not fun
@@miwoj ughhh how many hours did u even play? Or do you have a visual problem? No offense meant but maybe in the accessibility settings they could add it, but to to the real OG PLAYERS, that’s heresy. Go repent, ya heathen..
Kidding.. ok totally kidding… I don’t have the best eyes but after watching a few short tutorials and lots of IRL PRACTICE, I got it down… I just played two days ago for the first time in two years and sucked.. so it’s pretty realistic. Also the higher your proficiency the easier it gets..
anyway it should be optional- I don’t wanna stare at a crosshairs whilst trying to defend myself against multiple opponents.
700+ hours of game play… that’s my opinion.
@@AlexanderHonsVonEber a lot of hours. i've 100%-ed the game twice. and it was A LOT more fun with mods for unlimited saving, crosshair for bows, no letterbox vision in helmets etc. you know, fixed annoying things that were ruining the fun, that's what mods are for.
crosshairs should only be allowed in the easy difficulty. anything from medium to above should be default off. i dont understand why people would want a crosshair in a game like this xD
kcd 1 have only 2 modes of difficulty - normal and hardcore (with antiperks, technicaly all antiperks activated is third mode of difficulty)
@@marv.mp4714 yes. but it sounds like this game is gonna be noob friendlier. so it should have an easy mode. not dumb down the game for everyone else.
you sound miserable. @@kingsaka5042
To be fair some form of reticle could be a perk. Like the screen would blur towards sharper center. Doesn't had to be dot. Just a spot, inch in a diameter.
that would be cool if done well
like you are focusing where arrow will go so the screen is sharper in that area.
it would probably be very immersive.
I'm glad to see there are cats in the game! Cats were often hated in the Middle Ages because they were nocturnal and the night was associated with the devil. The fact that their eyes glowed and that they were very silent made a lot of people fear them. But I'm a cat person and I won't tolerate anymore to be forced in a relationship with extreme permanently barking annoyance that was Mutt!!! :D
On another note, I really hope that polearms will be more than an afterthought this time and have their own dedicated skill with perks and that we will be able to carry them around on the long term. Swords, maces and axes were by and large secondary weapons in the 15th century. I also really hope that they will overhaul mounted combat and add cavalry lances Mount & Blade style.
The crosshair thing isn't a problem for anyone who owns a halfway decent gaming monitor, most of them have options for crosshairs in the screen options.
I always thought that a cool idea would be to have a massive circle when using a bow and as you level that circle gets smaller and smaller until it's a reticle. Although I do enjoy the challenge and skill it takes to master the bow. When in other games your character is a skilled Archer from the start. I wonder how aming will change from normal bow to cross bow because arrows would usually go a little bit next to your bow unless you were using a really light one.
Crossbow will probably be simply easier to aim, because you can basically look directly in the direction of the arrow. Maybe they could even have some sort of rudimentary sights.
Fist person herb picking was one of the first mods I installed as soon as I got started with the game. I don't mind at all that picking takes time, but that swap to 3rd person was really throwing me off.
Another similar one was disable headbob mod. I felt I was going to be motion sick standing still. I think if I ever started swaying like that in real life I hope someone would take me to a doctor :D
I really hope they will have modding support available as soon as possible! Or just a toggle for these kinds of things.
Yeah I have no idea why a game that relies so much on immersion throws you into a 3rd person view for herb picking. It's a bit jarring. As for headbobbing, I'd be surprised if the character animations aren't just way better in the sequel in general, with no mods needed.
you actually are swaying like that in real life.
but your brain compensates for it. same thing with depth perception.
when games add blurring effects to surrounding areas that you are not focusing on can also be confusing.
because our eyes and brains dont work like that in real life.
Cat should have ability do distract enemy guards so you can easily sneak behind them. Sometimes also bring random "gifts"
Henry's inventory just full of half-eaten mice.
Mutt replaced with a cat? NOOOOOOO
I'm pretty sure mutt is still in the game. He was in the trailer! We'll likely also have cat companions.
@@haiderkhan6486 cats confirmed
What about kids? There were no children in the first game, it was kinda weird.
Kids would require tons of extra animations and interaction which was not doable for them, even in the second game. Also there are strict ratings about being able to hurt kids in games, so it would influence the release of the game as well.
Bruh everyone knows kids didn't exist in medieval times
@@orbit1894 Oops, my bad.
I hope thats only on easy mode.
My understanding is despite popular belief, flails were almost unheard of back in medieval europe. They took much more effort to craft than a mace and were much harder to use and significantly less effective.
And not just harder to use, way more risky.
If I've understood it correctly, the main idea behind flail is that you can get behind an enemy shield the way rigid weapons can't, but the downsides are just way too big for it to be a good choice most of the time.
They are talking about the farming tool mainly...which were used by the Hussites so the big two handed monsters.
illegal cats? hehe
Noooo. I want to put a dot on my screen with an erasable sharpie
Modern audiance want it easier, faster, otherwise they are immediately getting bored...
Please dont make the game hold your hand, we liked the learning curve!
they can do both.
remember hardcore mode in kcd 1?
it was amazing.
"Given the opportunity, players will optimize the fun out of a game."
Painting a dot on the screen... In a non competitive, singleplayer, hyper-immersive RPG... Jesus wept.
Yes why not let's add an in game crosshairs.
While we're at it let's make it auto lock on to enemy heads.
And also we should have unlimited arrows.
And we don't need a draw animation, it should fire immediately soon as I click a button.
And it should fire in a straight line, no parabolic arc.
And should cost no stamina.
And should pierce all armor and be a 1 hit kill.
Also I think we should have dual gattling arrow launchers mounted on our horses saddle.
Also I've never even heard of modding, these things must be included in the base game!
sounds like red dead redemption 2
I hope alchemy gets streamlined too.
yeah it's so tedious
Yeah the animations are a snooze fest. I love the idea and the visuals of alchemy in KCD but man, Henry really ain't in a rush. Also the game locking the camera so often to synch with the slow animations gets really annoying.
Brilliant idea, clunky execution. I hope they don't give up on ideas like that because they weren't well implemented in KCD1.
Yeah think about how many times you have to watch those tedious animations until you get useful perks.
Thank goodness for fortnite. Was able to paont a dot on the screen, making crossbow shooting e 👌 🤣
I hope there's an option to turn it off. to honor the first game
In kcd i used bluetac fir a cross hair, much better than oaint in the screen
