Everyone be aware. The MAGA GROUP have already started doing this quietly by not paying doctors for longer periods of time. I already lost a Medicare ENT doctor and my homecare doctor said it's taking months and months to get paid by Medicaid. I actually had to leave a hospital, having partial pneumonia in my right lung. I was sent home on a hospital dosage of prednisone 60mg and I was told to ween myself off of it. Afterwards, when I seen my pulmonary doctor from that hospital, he was livid. Be proactive with health and know your rights. It's extremely important to VOTE BLUE to keep and better things in this country for all Americans.

    • @ekbgsb

"Rs work for their donors"-- hospitals are donors too, much more so than individual doctors. You can see the split in who gets paid, and how they respond to that.
Doctors routinely refuse or limit adding new patients with military health insurance or Medicaid (or say that they accept this payment, but in reality it's only if you see the doctor while in the hospital).
Doctors are leaving family practice to join concierge medical services, where one pays a hefty monthly fee for membership and NO insurance is accepted (in other words, only the very very rich). PG is right about this too, I see it in my county.

Without MediCal and Covered California, he probably wouldn't have survived. He's now 22 and will have these pre-existing conditions for his whole life, making him more difficult to insure without the ACA. I went through this before the ACA and it was disgusting and scary I am considered by many very wealthy but when I call to try and get health insurance as a single self-employed man not one single insurance company would insure me even though I was healthy. I even told them if I gave you a check every month for a billion dollars will you insure me and they told me no. Even the cost of something like a small thing that happens to you as in a broken arm will cost you well over a hundred thousand dollars so even if you think you're good to go you're not they will take every last penny and you will die or your child and unless you love nobody and care nothing about living yourself you want to keep the ACA. Good for you young lady. You're doing a very important service for all Americans with your excellent advice and information. Keeping the ACA out of the hands of greedy Republicans that want to privatize it is imperative. Thanks for bringing out the truth on this issue, and so many others. You're doing a great job, keep up the fantastic work!!!

Why aren't the Dems campaigning on this!?!? It is actually popular (59%) with 39% opposed (falls along party lines). Again, I ask why aren't they? We need a party that challenges every draconian proposal/campaign talking point the Repubs come up with! Come on Dems, pick up your game.

I'm with you Leigh- I was diagnosed with type I diabetes when I was ten years old; I'm pretty sure that, after 39 years of insurance, I've long since passed my lifetime caps. And if you take away the limits on the price of insulin, I'm dead in a month.

Pay attention to what they do, no their hollow promises.

Wow, what an insightful and personal post. Your point of view is spot on. Not sure how many sales pitches and marketing for pro-corporation over how many decades it took to get to this point, but keeping Trump out if the WH is definitely a huge first step in starting to fight this for our families.

Before the Obama care, I had been in the hospital for a removal surgery of some intestine, but even when the stiches weren't removed yet on the 5th day, the doctor came into my room and told me that "now that you are served with "normal meal" your insurance company cut the coverage. If you want to stay here for more days, you can, but you have to pay $4,000 per night."... I was shocked, but I couldn't pay such a ridiculous amount to just stay... So I had to leave the hospital with pain in my heaet and my stomach. A year later, when Obama enacted the ACA, I was so grateful for Obama's consideration of providing us with more affordable coverages and more availability of insurance plans, meanwhile I painfully recognized myself as one of victims of the greedy insurers.

As a 60+ disabled citizen with several health issues including a bad heart and a pacemaker/defibrillator , diabetes etc., it terrifies me every time the republicans' take over. And sad to say, this nation seems to vote against it's own interest. They fall for the fear mongering and populist statements. I see it in Florida all the time. All we can do is hope enough people educate themselves and with people like you, it is a possibility. But lets face it, the people who watch you are already on the correct side of history. It is reaching the others that is the challenge. I know, I am related to someone who voted for cheeto head twice, and he has a Masters. He is well educated. Take care and God Bless from Florida.

Even though I had to go to war to qualify, I feel extremely lucky to have excellent VA health care now that I'm in my retirement years. I just can't imagine having to fight with insurance companies and the medical industrial complex for every little bit of health care i might need.

The Affordable Care Act does a lot of good things, but we need to move on to universal single payer healthcare, like expanded and improved Medicare for All, with coverage included for vision, dental, mental health, long term care, etc. Hospitals need to be not-for-profit. Drug prices need to be negotiated. Here in Kansas, our state legislature still won't agree to expand Medicaid even though 70% of Kansans think it should be.
