Just got done watching samito’s doom guide and he preaches for slamming in and punching out, for some overshields. Kind of how this dude did at first, gotta admit tho, slamming into a charging zen right off the bat was ballsy. I’m also just about a minute in.
i do this sometimes as well, but you really need to make sure its safe to do so. in a lot of comps you will just lose more hp than the overshields you gain, plus you just burned your abilities. The chances to do this effectively only go down as your rank goes up as teams will pay a lot more attention at higher ranks.
Another thing about his block aside from looking at the floor was that he keeps jumping and like trying to juke out shots. It’s way better to just stand still or slowly walk linearly towards cover so the enemies actually land more shots and you get charge. A lot of times I stand til the very last second next to cover with my block because sometimes enemies mistime when it’ll end and you end up getting that last bit of charge you need
Istg people are learning this slam in punch out thing from flats Like yeah it builds ult sure But meteor strike is dogshit You're better off thinking you don't have an ultimate than to play around your meteor strike Just punch in follow up try to stall for a second or two (for the sake of cycling cooldowns) shoot all your primary then slam out
samito teaches it too. i tried it out, but you have to do it in scenarios where there tank doesn’t push up at all. it leaves u with no abilities little gained ult charge and ur better off punching in a slamming out
Hope more Master or higher rank doom vod Zbra can coaching that will help me more (not offense or ego but most gold plat coaching is just some basic thing then u can play pretty well)
Starting as Doom you have to hone in on a target sometimes. This person seems to want to fight everyone and never kills anyone consistently. My thoughts.
He's looking WAYYYY too far down during block. So far down that the enemies can shoot his head/upper back for free without charging his block. They don't know that, since this is low elo, but this is something he needs to fix because block's mitigation hitbox does not work the same way it did in the beta, looking that far downward is going to get him killed repeatedly against players who recognize this behavior (not to mention even worse players could just recognize not to shoot him when he turns so low like that, even if they don't notice him blocking).

Is it normal for Dooms to not get verticality off Slam? It allows you to get angles for wall punches or even punches into your team. I find it so wasteful to just do a little baby slam forward and get no position advantage from it
it is for newer doom players that don’t understand how critical his positioning is. a lot of new players use it too much for just the stagger effect and then get back out. I use mine for stagger when I’m fighting some characters, repositioning when I’m low, or quick overhealth before popping ult.
Looks high gold to me. That 16% ult charge from the first slam was not a complete disaster of an engange. Cooldown management needs some practice, cover usage was decent. Aight, that's the first 2 minutes, now imma watch the rest
16% ult charge for you, 8/8 percent for enemy support. Dooms ult is garbage while Zen/Ana can be game changing. You mostly don't wanna do damage just for the sake of doing damage. It need to also apply some kind of pressure (which is doesn't when the team isn't even remotely in a position to follow up on any of the damage).

Yes, it's garbage, and this is why it's often better to use it to reset cooldowns or as an escape tool. Charge it fast, go in, commit all abilities, and get out. And it's also an easy way to bait out Zen's ult. Doom excels at spearing through defenses and displacing enemies, and one shouldn't be afraid to apply as much pressure as possible.

Now that I watched most of the video, I believe he’s actually silver. My main reason for this is every time he slams in the middle of the enemy team, the enemy IGNORES HIM. HOW? Also noticed he uses abilities on cool down, he blocks a lot, but gets nothing out of it. Also Ult chains, using ult after someone else uses ult. Using Meteor Strike aggressively. One more thing, he’s always looking down when he blocks, but 3 out of the five enemies CAN’T headshot him, and the two that can are never there because they are flankers. He gains literally nothing by doing this.
even when i was in silver (gold rn and quickly climbing) the enemy wouldnt ignore me jumping into the middle of them It was like defcon 1 and they all look at me and melt me... learned very fast thats bronze lvl right there

It's good for certain situations when you gotta apply pressure or to get the last % for your ult but it can often lost you games
Downside of punching out is if they're smart they body block your escape punch

Well, yup, Zen indeed gets only 4%. But their Moira gets 8%. And then goes to 24% in mere seconds, fuck me she's busted lol

It's really not hard to play doom. Slam shoot punch Block shoot while being spam healed. Only way to play doom 😂
