    This was fantastic information I currently have cat 5e runs however I'm considering pulling cat 6 lines. I'm on ATT 1gig fiber however ATT has started pushing out 2 and 5 gig packages. I don't see myself going to 5 gigs but maybe 2 gigs since it's a small price increase.

      Wow 2 gig would be awesome! I think I would probably go with 2 gig as well. Remember you need to change your PCs Network interface cards to 10 gig otherwise your max speed is 1 gig. Also you will need to upgrade your router and switches also. Most switches and routers are 1 gig max. I would probably upgrade before going to 2 gig. Thanks for watching I really appreciate it.

      I prefer Cat6 for homes, but it can be difficult to rewire old houses, especially 2 story houses.

    Built my house in 04 ran cat 5 and coax ru6 everywhere and don't use any of it fiber to a box via wireless router same thing in the public school system one Wi-Fi hub in each class room. We have run many miles of wire thru the buildings Jack's ever wear now everything is note pads. We have piles of towerdrives boxes sitting in storage. When there is 35 of them in a classroom the produce a lot of heat .1.2 amps each . They have become outdated.

    If I were to install new cables for a new house, I would install Cat6A, which is able to support 10G Ethernet.

    You say CAT 6 is Generally more durable and give credit to thicker sheating.
    However, part of the CAT 6 ANSI Standard is that Solid Copper Conductors are 23 awg, which are thicker wire than CAT 5 or CAT 5E.

    I see you showed a box Southwire Cat6 cable in the beginning of the video, This cable does not have a spline. In your opinion, is this cable still Cat6? or just rebranded Cat5e like many of the reviews say it is? Thanks.

    • @UltimateTechHub
      @UltimateTechHub  Před 2 lety

      I've worked with cat6 cables for the last 10 years and the Southwire cables are cat6. Cat5e is much thinner and flimsy.

    Thanks, but i think that at 2021 which Fiber to the home is spreading very fast, Cat6A should be the minimum to deploy at home. the price difference is very small in comparison to the headache you would have when 2GB internet speeds will get into houses in 5 years, i, myself took it further and deployed Cat7 at my apartment.
    Thanks, Adi from Israel

      Cat7 is the best choice for future proofing your home if you can afford it. Although Cat6a is very good but in my area it's hard to get Cat6a and Cat7 especially in 500ft spools. Thank you for watching all the way from Israel I really appreciate it.

      I've used the cat6 from Home Depot and had zero problems with it. Easy to terminate and 2.5Gbps at short cable runs. I've tested it using iPerf3 and performed better than cat6a, cat7 and cat8 at 6 foot runs.

    • @UltimateTechHub

      Cat5e works perfect for PoE cameras. I use Cat6 for all of my PoE cameras just for future proofing my home but Cat5e is plenty. Video streaming 2k or 4k doesn't utilize fast speeds or large bandwidth. Thanks for watching I really appreciate it.

    Upgrading to cat six could actually increase your Internet speeds when you think about it if you’re just running fast ethernet our cat 5 and cat6 is way harder to deal with in cat6 and cat5e
