Would you mind telling what temperatures your King Oyster colonizes and fruits at? I'm thinking of trying it for my first grow. Otherwise, pearl oyster will be my choice if King is too difficult.

05:04 That means you need to make the heated area thicker orand cover more surface with a heater that is not as hot as the old
or consider switching to different types of "boilers" alltogether and calculate the costs like (maintenance, durability, energy, ...)
We ended up cutting off the bottom and replacing it with a thicker piece of stainless and still did a think band around the weld to reinforce it. Really happy with the repair

What are your thoughts on a sand floor in your fruiting room. Better to have sawdust/ woodchips on floor or not advisable at all?

Would a coil type boiler be better for your application? No tank to keep not, no explosion worry, and still keep the high temp for sterilization.

I would like to grow an easier mushroom outdoors. Maybe winecap something cheaper easier and more storable than the gourmet varieties you grow. Grow them on straw and corn stover and other farm waste large scale but I can't afford to sterilize. Would there be any production without sterilization? I mean it happens in the wild but the woods aren't very productive... Do the fungi really die when contaminated or do you just throw them out to save the rest of the crop?

John Bags, I water spray them 3 times a day. They are in a garage hanging. I switch on the light during the day (fluorescent), switch off at night
John thanks a lot for your suggestion. I will definitely give it a try. Some research I have done was highlighting excessive carbon dioxide in the room as a possible cause too
