I went back three times to one place, 'Çukur Meyhane' (near the Galatasaray school) - because the food was so good, it almost brought tears to my eyes (maybe it was the Raki?). And for profiteroles (cream puffs in fudge sauce), a famous place called 'Inci' - I almost couldn't speak after one bite of those. I don't usually want desserts, but I had two big portions. I love the tea, of course, and drank the fresh orange juice all day long- I grew up on orange juice in California, and Turkish orange juice is like a taste of heaven. I'm a British born Turkish Cypriot, been mainland Turkey a couple of times and was also amazed at the low prices for excellent quality meals. Also, it's actually cheaper in the towns.
Excellent video. As a foreigner looking at new places in the world,I am always thinking “ This place looks beautiful I wonder how affordable is it? Whether it be Hotels, eating out or the prospect of real estate in the case on contemplating a relocation. Unfortunately for most people in the world cost of living whether it be for a holiday or a permanent move is an important consideration. Thanks again for the wonderful work you both do.
So sad to see the currency has nosedived since I lived there. In 2008, the economy had so much promise. The cuisine is absolutely superlative. Patlıcan dishes were the best in the world.
Actually it is a little bit strange , although the lira has lost of its value over the last 8 years but still the prices are cheap, it means Turkey business are not changing the local prices according to the exchange rate , and as I can see still you are receiving the same quality of service and the same quality of food. Any other country if the exchange rate will drop then immediately the goods prices and services will go up to compensate the difference in the exchange rate. If the Goods and service prices are not going up then maybe that is why life is as usual for Turkish people. I can understand that any thing that is imported from outside Turkey definitely will go up , but luckily a wonderful country like Turkey has every thing.
"Any other country if the exchange rate will drop then immediately the goods prices and services will go up to compensate the difference in the exchange rate" No, it depends on how much said country relies on import to provide its services and products. If your locals foods are imported, the price will hike up as inflation hits and the national coin devalues because international trading becomes more expensive to the country in question. Turkey is one of the few self sufficient countries on the planet because of their extremely rich farm land and good soil, they simply don't rely on foreign trade for food so their food market isn't affected as much as a country who relies on importation to feed its people.
Thank you for this! I left a comment on a previois video asking for this. Holiday booked in August that I am still hoping to go on. Not looking too likely but one can hope.

Try trip advisor, The reviews of many people are better than the reviews of one couple
Love the video and so want to be back. Couple new restaurants now on my list too. Thanks for the video. If I was retired I would be out there like a shot!!
Thank you for showing us what we all want to know before going to turkey.
I'm a British born Turkish Cypriot, been mainland Turkey a couple of times and was also amazed at the low prices for excellent quality meals. Also, it's actually cheaper in the towns.
I am going konyaalti. Is that a town?
@@talktothesand88 Konyaalti is a beach, I'm assuming beach resort, in the city of Antalya.
Just found your channel and I'm loving it,you are a lovely couple
Keep it up guys , love your work
Thanks Mick and Trudie! Appreciate these informative videos, hoping to head back to Turkey very soon! :)
So sad to see the currency has nosedived since I lived there. In 2008, the economy had so much promise. The cuisine is absolutely superlative. Patlıcan dishes were the best in the world.
Cok kaliteli bi adamsin mick amca severek izliyorum videolarini
Nice video Thank You Mick and Trudie
Thank you for making Turkey known to the world!
U Guys amazing 🤩 I really enjoyed watching your video 😊 waiting more video
Really enjoyed your video nice one
Due to currency loosing like 4x of its value since 8 years ago today virtually everything is dirt cheap in Turkey….
And that's proberbly the real reason they put Turkey on the red list.
