Thank you for that little PSA. I used to be that asshole who would have more drinks than I should have and get behind the wheel. It's a miracle I never got a DUI or killed anybody, but I know I'm not the only who ever did something similar and got lucky.

I’m feeling one of 2 possibilities.
1. Sam starts all year and plays great.
2. Sam gets injured and McCarthy plays well.
I don’t see a world were we take Sam Darnold off the field for McCarthy unless he gets injured.
Let's be real. By week 5-7 of shitty Darnold play, Mccarthy is gonna become the starter. At least, that's what I think should happen. Why waste time reviving the career of a qb bust when you could focus on your young qb with potential.
@@jasonhensley7455or, let J.J sit and learn no matter how Darnold plays. Remember, Darnold is at the mercy of his O-Line and options. He'll be a decent GM and surprise a lot of people as he was put in to start way too early and crumbled. He has matured, and will be playing for his career. The better the competition the better a guy will play

@jasonhensley7455 I honestly don't think JJ sees the field even in this situation. From everything I have seen, JJ is going to be the 3rd string going into next season behind Nick Mullens. If that is true, I have very little faith he will ever be an NFL starter because a top 10 pick should be at least the second string as a rookie.

As a Bills fan, thanks for mentioning what you sajd about Arm punts. Josh Allen gets ripped apart for his INTs but for some reason we only seem to throw deep on 3rd down and it puts the opponents down around their own 20 because Diggs gets pissed and tackles the Db immediately 😂.

I think this is one of my most exciting teams in football to talk about imo. And I think JJ McCarthy will be fine actually. He is in the best position out of any rookie QB imo.

Right behind the Khyree accident the police arrest Jordan Addison for being drunk behind the wheel. I just couldn't believe it or make sense of it. It's sad whenever anyone so young loses their life and in such a tragic manner, I wish the best for all the grieving families involved and hope this sobers people up to the very real dangers of driving impaired.

I think there's a keen self-awareness on the Vikings part of where they are as a team and what they need to do to change that. They knew their window with Kirk was closed and are wisely embracing taking a season to retool and assess and develop what they've got with an eye on competing in future seasons. This is especially true in their handling of the QB position and wise and smart development of McCarthy is of utmost importance.
I want to say that, even as they are, the Vikings on paper look like a .500 team, but that schedule is brutal and, honestly, kinda might be a blessing in disguise at the end of the day from a 2025 draft position perspective. An 0-8 start is honestly a realisitic possibility for the Vikings.
At the end of the day, I see a 5-7 win season for 2024, but as long as McCarthy shows promise and flashes once he's playing, the W-L record won't matter. It's all about 2025 and beyond for the Vikings

I feel like the 2nd set of 5 games for the Vikings are just as tough as the first 5, assuming the Jags return to their 2022 form. It's a gauntlet for sure.
JJ should not play this season period unless they're totally out of the playoffs. He's a way bigger project than people realize, and he needs to sit and learn for the season.

I think the tougher schedule plays into the Vikings favor early in the season. Last year the played right with every tough team, beating GB in GB, beat San Fran, had the chiefs and the bengals on the hook but couldn’t hang on to the ball. But then they played awful against losing teams. The tougher the schedule, the better they’ll play I’m guessing. Eliminate even half of last year’s turnover and they’re an 11/12 win team…. Let’s goo
“Tough situation” is a weird way to put it. The Vikings have a bunch of cap space, draft picks, and young talent already on the roster. Next season might be rough but they are in a better situation than any team that is not currently contending and that does not already have a superstar qb.
Cousins benefited from having other targets like Jordan A and TJ Hockenson during JJ's absence. But that Vikings offense they just need a half decent trigger man at quarterback. They have the playmakers at the skill positions and just need someone who can be accurate and get the ball out on time.

i think the vikes improved this team pretty well this year. thing is, quite a few teams also improved, ESPECIALLY in the division. but i think they go 11 and 6 or 10 and 7, darnold makes playoffs
They will start off tough, but then improve. I think Addison could be suspended if he was in fact drunk driving. However, this is a young team that will get better throughout the year. I think there are a team that could defy expectations, and if JJ McCarthy pans out, they could have some very good seasons.

I am a Vikings fan. One thing I don't understand is how the coach doesn't play the starters until the regular season. So we always come in rusty and without a lot of reps and it - spoiler alert- bit us in the ass again with sloppy football and turnovers.

I think it’s a bit obtuse to think the Vikings will blitz as much as they did last season. Their entire pass rush was Hunter. I expect to see more diversity with the edge room now. None of the guys alone are better than Hunter, but the room is much improved.

Your team is staring down the barrel of a 5 win season. They're going to start 1-4 because Sam Darnold will play like he always does, Vikings will panic and throw McCarthy to wolves in week 6 or 7. Darnold's problem is that he makes bad decisions, and a good o line and WRs won't fix this.
I legit thing that the Vikings were expecting to get penix. JJ was a welcome pivot as I think he was their number 2, but I have a feeling they wanted penix. He would have been pretty much ready to compete with darnold in camp for a starting spot. JJ represents the best opportunity to build a guy they want. Hes young, he has a good head on his shoulder, all the physical intangibles, but severely lacks experience and adversity. If KOC is truly a QB whisperer, this is his best opportunity to prove it as I dont think JJ will succeed without guidance but he has all the talent to be successful in this offense.
@ahastar1141 Imo, Mccarthy's development solely depends on the system they put him in. If they can establish a strong run game and get some of the heat off of him, he can be really good. However, if they put all the load on his shoulders and try to make him a quick read qb who can get the ball out fast and precise, he will more than likely bust. In a sense, if the vikings use Mccarthy like the lions use Goff, he's potentially a top 10-15 qb.
