Luck be a Landlord is a roguelike drafting game / deckbuilder about using a slot machine to earn rent money and defeat capitalism. This game does not contain any real-world currency gambling or microtransactions.

Helpful, non-insulting, tips welcome. Things I already learned between this video and the next one and thus don't need comments on:
• First symbols after rent are guaranteed higher quality and thus better for rerolls.
• Everything related to essences, which I unlocked before next episode.
I tend to take Gamblers early on, and let them build up; then by the time their 1 gold gets a bit small fry, pick a die, any die and cash in on the multipliers

Pretty much all of the common symbols that destroy other symbols are a lot better than they look, even the mouse, and I've found it's a good idea to try to get them all asap. This is especially true on higher floors where the mid game can be absolutely brutal and you need that quick injection of money from them to survive. I would also avoid adding too many symbols that don't really do anything without rare synergies, like oranges, sapphires, etc, you know the ones. Also idk if I should mention this or let you figure it out on your own but there are two pretty prominent archetypes that are kinda just traps in the later floors, if you don't want to know what they are I would stop reading here but I'll explain them below. Pretty much all of my successful runs on the highest floor are very generalist builds that just try to cram in as much good stuff as possible in the mid game and then eventually transition into a scaling strategy later on, usually one of the rare scaling eaters or diamonds, I've found diamonds to be a very consistent scaling strategy. I'll also clarify that the rerolling for rares thing only works when symbols are guaranteed to be that rarity, this generally occurs with rent payment symbols and the guaranteed rare capsules.
The two archetypes I'm referring to are flowers and suits. They both suffer from similar issues, namely that they require a critical mass of synergy to start paying off and you just won't have time to get there on higher floors. I think suits are the better of the two but since suits are uncommon they take even longer to get together. Flowers are especially mediocre because they require you to spend the time that you would normally be spending taking eaters like the dwarf, toddler, and monkey as well as their food in the early game instead taking synergy for your late game but you won't make it there since your mid game will be so pathetic. Suits suffer from the same issue but they tend to require less pieces to come together; unfortunately those pieces aren't as common so it'll still take too long.
Here is a possibly some helpful tips that you can use in later runs.
You can Turn Off/Deactivate items by clicking on them.
For instance you get Shedding Season from an item capsule and don't want to fill your board with rabbit fluff you can deactivate the item.
Another example is if you get Coin on a String on a King Midas, Pirate build.
Or X-ray Machine/ Fertilizer on a Geologist/Mrs. Fruit builds respectively.
Another helpful time specifically about the Frozen Fossil/Eldritch Creature is that removing Hexs/Cultists/Witches with Removal Tokens count for decreasing the spins needed to break the Frozen Fossil and add stacks to the Eldritch Creature proper.
Don’t skip the eldritch creature, it’s a natural 4 even without building into it. Love watching this game. Thanks for the content king

Man, if you want insane coin proc, here is your build:
Dove Destruction.
You need doves. 2-4 preferred.
All items that destroy or get destroyed, ignore all others with exception of wild card and golden arrows.
I have a current continuing run of 100M plus, proccing rolls between 5k to 5M per roll. I'll throw up screenshots later if you're interested, but this build is INSANE.

the reroll strat only works on guaranteed effects, since they get preserved on reroll. so if an item says "your next roll has a guaranteed very rare" that effect gets preserved

I think its possible to make the UI/Text smaller, so you don't have to scroll down as much when you find large textboxes! Maybe that'll make the experience even more comfortable ^^

Well, as I played I've come to have a few tips for myself like:
- Early rabbit/goose is a good investment (1st to 2nd round). Rabbits give 1 for 10 spins and from there 3, as well as having a few early and simple combos like Inaba. The goose is like any other 1 coin item, but if your lucky, you can have 1 or 2 golden eggs until its time to remove it, normally over the 4th round or so.
- Bubbles are nice investments early on. They are 3 spins removables 2 coins per spin. And if you have a goldfish you may have the luck to pop it and gain 15 coins before it pops. Can say about the same for the milk and the cat.
- Try not to have more than 2 copies of luck items like shining peebles and rabbits fur. Passives like shedding season tend to overflow your build, just use it if you are in need of them.
@@Palitato I can agree with you in those facts, those are precisely the reasons for me as to use it.
But generally speaking, for me those items which just could overflow a build are not fit for me unless I have all conditions cleared. I love to use rabbit, but normally I don't use shedding season. I know that I can switch it off and on, but it would not be as fun. Same with the omellette build, I can have 1 chicken to start the process but don't pick up the 2nd or 3rd until frying pan and egg case.
Cool to see you playing after the updates ^_^ one tip I found after playing heaps of this is toddler is great for the early game usually since they break bubbles and presents early along with being able to eat candy so it gives some good money progression early.
Cats can also be super OP if you get the right string of essences but does result in needing to avoid improving symbol chances so can be a momentary trade off lol

I was so thankfull you didn't try and pivot into a Card or Food build during that run, as I feel like if you did it would have ended earlier.
I hope this game becomes a fully fledge series, there's so many potential "Themed Runs" and specific ones can get you many Billions a spin in you have the right items.

So the specific tip about “re-rolling a very rare or rare” you did figure out p much how it works.
If you have an item or capsule effect that guarantees a certain quality (tedium capsule guarantees one common, lucky guarantees one rare, certain items will guarantee a very rare) then re rolling will always give you another symbol of that guaranteed quality.
Anything else is just pure RNG

I usually save rerolls for when I choose my first symbol after paying rent. They're always uncommon or better and much more likely to get rarer symbols.

Hey, at like 20:00, there was "hex of midas" - 3 gold, 30% chance to add another gold. Am I misreading it, or is that entirely upside? I thought all the hexes had a cost.

It's great when you have a pirate to destroy the coins or a king midas to buff them, and taking a midas curse when you have triple coin isn't *bad* since it's a 3 cost that makes more 3 costs, but it can certainly be bad in most cases.
there are good coin removal synergies. for example the pirate eats coins and gets +1 value permanently with no stack limit. coin on a string removes coins instantly and gives 10 gold each. so if you create multiple coins per spin you can make a ton of money without flooding the board with 1 value symbols.
