If this wasnt a review series i would have said you guys never saw the other Indy moview. Its full of ridiculously implausable things. Raiders- a Chest with ghost that shoot lightning and melt your face if you dont close your eyes. Doom - 3 people jump out of a plane but survice because of a raft? Crusade - a cup with instant healing and a dude that has been alive for hundreds of years in a cave. God forbid they continue the rediculousness in the sequal. Also CGI has been prevelent in all the movies but now its somhting to complain about. Still love you guys.

Nah you aren't done yet! There's still 22 "Adventures of Young Indiana Jones" films. Nah they're not worth doing but I'll recycle this from the last episode's comments.
So these 22 films were originally created by George Lucas as a TV Series called "The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles", covering roughtly two periods of Indie's life - Age 9-10 and 16-21. It covers his adventures with his father at a young age and later his experiences during WW1. Their quality is kind of mixed and I feel it struggles with knowing the target audience but it tackles some real hard subjects but I had a fun time seeing the character development to what would eventually be film Indie, especially since Harrison Ford is present to play him in one of the episodes. It's all shot on location and they go around the world for some amazing environments. The serious was originally conceived due to peoples questions about Indie's life and then heavy encouragement from the positive reception of that intro scene in The Last Crusade.
The series eventually got cancelled after two seasons and a handful of movies but eventually they all got re-edited by Lucas into 22 films as "Adventures of Young Indiana Jones", cutting some fluff and adding in some cut scenes to make it flow better. The episodes were roughly grouped together in twos by theme and placed in chronological order (with newly recorded footage in between) , though many continuity problems occur due to this. The movie versions do cut an important aspect of the series which were the "Bookends", these were framing scenes with an old man Indiana Jones sharing his stories (though they left the Harrison Ford one in). Honestly if the original films were two thirds Action/Adventure and one third Educational then these are the other way around with more history lessons (though it's done really well). The acting is well done with the youngest Indie actor Corey Carrier for the most part not being obnoxious and having real acting growth, then the young adult actor Sean Patrick Flanery being amazing in the role. My personal favourite role is Lloyd Owen as Henry Jones Sr. because he was just amazing... seriously.
Anyway if your even remotely interested you should check them out, even if it's just the WW1 stuff which is a standout. Fun fact, Lucas got the idea of Kingdom of the Crystal Skull while in production of this series with the 3rd season coving it. If that went ahead Indiana Jones 4 would've been VERY different.

@@b.u.l.1734 Plus it's made by George Lucas and features Harrison Ford in one episode. There was a "Complete Adventures" series released with the three films at the end, Raider being named "Chapter 22".
This isn't some overcomplicated and oversaturated franchise though. There's not a lot of content and most of it doesn't step on anothers toes. Games, novels and comics are murky territory but there's still some good stuff in those too.

The first documented account of Oppenheimer’s reference to the “destroyer of worlds” appeared in a 1965 documentary, in which Oppenheimer himself described the moments following the Trinity Test, during which he claims to have “remembered” the passage from the Bhagavad-Gita. In the documentary, he is specifically talking about the various reactions of the people present at the time, so whether Oppenheimer actually spoke the words out loud, or simply recalled them privately in his own mind is ultimately unclear. (Though a literal reading of this account would tend to suggest he never spoke the words aloud)

Can't remember who, but I think it was an interview with the lead stunt guy or someone like that from the crew. So leading up to it I had this feeling of reassurance that it was in good hands. It always annoys me when people get annoyed with the concept of the crystal skulls in this movie. All of the items Indiana Jones hunts are historical myths. There is historical lore and mythology built around the Crystal Skulls, but then the twist "the myths were real!!?'
The Ark of the Covenant is real and melts faces, Cup of Christ is real and heals and grants immortality (or something) Death cult pulls out still beating hearts. The crystal skulls are in fact alien skulls and have powers "get the fuck out of here with that trash"

  • @keithmacintyre1889
    @keithmacintyre1889 Před rokem

KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL is an absolutely TERRIFIC movie... ALL FOUR Indy movies are TERRIFIC movies... If you can not see that, then you are missing the whole point of the spirit of KOTCS and what the filmmakers were paying homage to... It is YOUR loss, and I truly feel sorry for you.
Just so you know where I am coming from... I have been an Indiana Jones fan ever since I first saw RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK in the movie theatre in 1981... 41 years ago, when I was 14 years old... That being said, let me continue...
With KOTCS, George Lucas was paying homage to the popular tropes of the B-movies of the 1950's... Invasion from outer space films (there are your aliens), Tarzan movies (there is your "swinging on vines with monkeys" reference), Cold War paranoia films (the Skull's mind control)... Just as he did when he was paying homage to the cliffhanger B-movie tropes of the 1930's with the first 3 films (taking inspiration from "The Perils of Pauline" and "Zorro" serials, "Stagecoach", etc.)... That's the spirit that this movie (just like the others) should be taken in... As a multi-million-dollar "B-movie"... How did Indiana Jones survive an atomic explosion in a refrigerator?... It's very simple... BECAUSE IT IS A MODERN DAY "B-MOVIE", embracing all the eccentric and campy elements that go along with it!
SIDE NOTE: I am sure that the filmmakers involved with the upcoming 5th movie due out next year could very well do the same thing by paying homage to the B-movie tropes of the 1960's... which is the time period that the film will be set in (maybe there will be some "spy/secret agent" elements in the film, which was a popular genre in the B-movies of the1960's).
And as for the "very tired" criticism of the over-use of CGI in this film, instead of totally going with practical effects like the first 3 films... Well, because since that time, George Lucas PIONEERED the creation of CGI with his company ILM, and revolutionized special effects in movies forever...
So why can't George Lucas use CGI in HIS OWN movie? (The same LAME complaint was dumped upon his AMAZING Star Wars Prequel Trilogy, as well).
My own personal ranking of these four CLASSICS is:
#1 - RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK (10/10)
    #2 - TEMPLE OF DOOM (10/10)
#3 - KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL (9/10)
    #4 - THE LAST CRUSADE (9/10)
And let us not forget a worthy runner-up:.
#5 - THE YOUNG INDIANA JONES CHRONICLES - TV Series (8/10)
I absolutely can not wait until June 30th, 2023, when we will have FIVE TERRIFIC movies to enjoy when "INDIANA JONES 5" hits the big screen!

  • @vinnybastos

The thing that pisses me off the most is that this was 2008!

The terrible effects just take you out of it...

Damn nick wanted to tear every aspect of this movie apart like it came for his family. Like its not a good movie but hes nitpicking the shit out of it.

He Nick-picks the shit out of every movie. He tears apart these films and yet has never made a flick of his own.

I’d like to think he’s “playing it up” but it’s not funny and it’s just annoying after awhile. When he was on The Mandalorian it was like dude just shut the fuck up about what he thinks is wrong with it already. Sometimes it seems KF goes for trolling their audience with bad takes over actual good conversation about what they’re watching.

Its known George Lucas and Spielberg did not see eye to eye and Lucas made a lot of the bad decisions.

@@justingilliland360 It's mostly about the characters. I found Short Round and Willie really annoying in Temple of Doom. And Indy is very unlikable for like 90% of the movie. Not to mention the movie's cuestionable depiction of Indian culture.
Now, I'm not saying Crystal Skull is perfect (far from it), but at least it has characters that aren't aggravating or annoying. And I like Indy in that movie a lot better, he's likeable at least. The humor is better too.

@@b.u.l.1734 fair enough, and I can definitely get behind you on them depicting Indian culture terribly. But I’d rather watch a few annoying characters in a well written, nice to look at movie with legitimately incredible effects and set pieces at the time, as opposed to the cgi fest with laughably bad scenes that this movie is. Just speaking personally here, I saw this movie in theaters as a lifelong Indy fan and could not have been more let down. Legitimately glad you enjoy it though

This is such a trash movie. I can’t believe there was so much involvement by the original creators and collaborators. It feels like a parody movie.
Also I swear they talked about refrigerators locking in the past. And Tim was surprised back then and Nick/Greg were explaining it. Am I losing it?
