Keep these videos coming Dr. Handtevy, great information; I send many of your videos out to our flight nurses and medics. HALO-Flight (helicopter air medical company in south Texas) began our blood program in 2019 w/ PRBC's and plasma on every flight but started carrying whole blood and plasma in 2020. There is only one other EMS service in our region (a ground EMS provider in a northern county) that carries any type of blood product. Carrying blood products on board, to the scene has been a game-changer for us, especially when the majority of our scene responses are in very rural areas.

Hey Doc I’d like to pick your brain on how we can implement this in the Phoenix area. Right now flight is our only option for prehospital whole blood. We’re currently sitting somewhere around 30 days above 110. That’s our dilemma with whole blood is the shear temps here.

Hi Rob - they now have coolers made specifically for civilian pre-hospital blood with built in temperature monitoring. I’m planning on having them on an upcoming webinar. Happy to chat offline!
