RFK probably knew that LBJ recorded his phone calls.
They might not like each other, but governing the nation to is a higher priority.

LBJ called Bobby a grandstanding little runt.
    RFK called Johnson an animal.
The origin for this by the way was the fact that JFK offered LBJ the vice presidency, and Bobby tried to persuade him off the ticket, and Johnson never forgave him.
It was, as someone said, a matter of chemistry.
Bobby was clearly ambitious to get things done the way his brother would have done, and Johnson was insecure that Bobby was trying to discredit and undermine him.
Aides considered Johnson a manic depressive.

@@randyharris3175 Schlesinger, Bohrer, Manchester, Caro, etc., give us many similar characterizations of the LBJ/RFK relationship. As a kid growing up near the Johnson political neighborhood, even I was aware of this.

There is also the story of how LBJ blackmailed JFK with a huge file that was delivered to JFKs hotel room. Suddenly LBJ was on ticket as Vice. Check out LBJs years as Governor in Texas. About 19 people or so.. disappeared..

Bobby so incredibly much smarter than the man in office. LBJ HATED how the "Irish mob" humiliated him. And there´s the party in Texas! The nation was grieving, but at a mansion in Dallas (Help me out here) there was champagne flowing for a week! LBJ attended that party with his mistress. Was nixon there? At least several oil barons and other traitors.
