If theres one guy you want to avoid a dirty match with it's probably Austin. This is why I want to see him fight eventually imagine what he'll do if someone punches him and he gets really pissed.

Heel?? Dude was all heart and gave everything he had in every match. He was nothing if not the classic underdog story that never quite won the big show. I loved rooting for the little scrapper. His match vs RBY when he got his knee torqued was a pretty tough blow, and I don't think he ever mentally recovered from that one. It was likely his first opportunity to beat RBY, and it went down like that. So sad.
But yeah, not a heel.

only because of his dump dude, everyone knows about it, so its easy to scout. other than his dump he has a gas tank and a high crotch. I don't see any big moves from this guy without his dump. International guys will see RBY holding his arm behind his back and do the same stuff lol.

Yes he's natural freestyle, ex Iowa wrestlers are natural at becoming the greatest freestyle wrestlers is America. The Iowa style leads direct to Olympic gold
Desanto has that style well suited for freestyle very fast paced always stepping forward and that fireman to get his points

@@turgid4391 having an insane grip isnt cheating, just because Desanto was able to have such a tight grip on the tricep it caused some redness doesnt warrant eye gouging... one is AT MOST a day of having a red mark, the other is intentional cheating intentionally trying to cause pain

Austin was always who I was rooting for even in the ncaa his style is so fun to watch
I like Desanto. Not the best technician but he makes up for it w some of the most grit and heart and tenacity I’ve ever seen. That gets him far.
And that pace. He's well suited to run people into the ground in freestyle with that extremely high pace of his.
Except he has great technique that’s why he finds success at this high of a level

@@jamiegibson180 He's a good wrestler undoubtedly but his technique is definitely not on the level of some of the better U.S. guys. He's had trouble creating openings his whole career because he just hangs on a collar tie the entire match. His gas tank is insane though so it ends up working out but I think when WTT comes around he won't make it far.
@@randyh.7817 Yeah, I was surprised Garrett gassed like he did. Granted Desanto's pace isn't something you encounter every day but Garrett isn't some scrub either. Was very surprising to me.
When Desanto was transitioning over to freestyle my concern for him was that with his pace and high number of attacks he might end up exposing his own back more but glad to see that hasn't been the case.
I didn't even know he wrestled freestyle. I'm living under a rock.

Once you leave college its more the go to on the international level! Not certain but think folk ends at college!
@@normanhuntley5747 I understand I've just been told by some Americans that not all folk style wrestlers are good at freestyle. So it was interesting to see who decides to go international.
@@wrestlingjudoms1302 most the guys winning college folkstyle have wrestled freestyle thru-out there careers.Just folkstyle is the model for college. Some think were at a disadvantage by doing it that,I disagree, we have more champs in tournaments. KIDS get an education, for after wrestling! Plus now the can make money in college,that will help them,while they climb the free-style ladder.

The Georgian was dirty. He intentionally pushed his thumb in Desanto's eye as he was getting pinned. And he complained the whole match.

I'm a DeSanto fan. I used to think he was full of himself, but after hearing that he likely has autism, I realized he's just trapped in his own head way more than we can comprehend. I've seen the emotions and misunderstanding associated with competing in high level sports with ASD first hand, and I can't help but love the guy.

@@robinzhong5233 I thought that might be why. I guess it needs to be with some of the throws that can happen.
International mats are (sometimes) made of small sections that hey stack to move like tiles (sometime even attached to a wood base). The mat covers all the seams. Sort of a good idea as they can replace the cover easily and have different covers for different events.

I think the majority of his international opponents in freestyle events over the past year have complained about that tricep grip. He must really be digging his fingers in there. It is driving them crazy.
