      What is your best way to learn russian? I have been trying to learn for 1 year now.. really slow progress..

    • @thisGuy481
      @thisGuy481 Před 7 lety +23

      I would say just do it everyday and in a way that motivates you. Don't look at tables of grammar if tables of grammar don't excite you! For me, when I started learning Russian, I did it out of boredom because I needed something to fill my time. But going in I understood that Russian can sometimes be difficult and there's no sense in fighting it, and I think that mindset really helped with learning it.
      I'm going to tell you right now that I'm in no way an expert with Russian, lmao. Some days I can't even string together a simple sentence, or I mess up with the most basic of things, but that's part of the learning process so just be aware of that.
      As far as learning material, I actually started with duolingo (and I still do use it) because it's very casual and it's not overwhelming (plus it's free haha). But duolingo is not enough, you'll quickly find this out. So there's also learnrussian.rt.com/, which isn't bad either. The lessons are long and sometimes they frustrated me more than usual, but it's there. Eventually you're going to want to actually speak Russian, because if you're like me, your reading/writing comprehension are great, but your listening/speaking skills lack, so for that, I would say you would need to find someone to speak Russian to, whether it's a tutor in your area, or someone online. ALSO, I see that this CZcams channel has a website, perhaps looks into their services? ;) But, for me, since I'm Canadian, I find that my Canadian accent gets in the way of speaking so it's especially important that I practice it.
      But MOST IMPORTANTLY, just have a curiosity for it. Be curious about how you would say things in Russian and fill that curiosity by learning what it was that you were thinking, and learning WHY it is said that way in Russian and why it isn't exactly the same in English. For me, I think this was the most helpful.
      Hope that helped! Пока пока))
