    Shaq, what you mean he “put us on the map”??? When we won our last championship, we still had Duncan, Manu, and Tony on the team. Yeah he may have won MVP of that finals, but it was a team effort. Duncan already had 4 in his pocket before the 2014 win.

      I was at the game. I thought very highly of Kawhi as a player. I think he's the best player in the world at 100%. I have 2 of his jerseys one of them signed. I appreciate his time here in San Antonio. I hate how he handled the exit, sabotaged Manu and Tony's last year together. I wore my Manu jersey to the game, stood up and clapped during their tribute video and I just couldn't boo. I still love to watch him play. Spurs are looking great! Maybe this was the best thing for the Spurs!?

    Spurs fan and lived in San Antonio my whole life. It's funny to me how everyone gets this story wrong all the time. It's not the fact that he left, it's how he left and they way he and his team went about it. If he had played out his contract, and stood up like a man and said "Hey, I enjoyed my time here, but it's time to move on", we all would have understood. We may not have liked it, but he would not get booed. But that is NOT the way it went down, so i'll never understand why everyone is so butthurt about Kawhi getting booed, he deserved that. Spurs put alot of time money and effort into his career. The FANS bought tickets, showed up, cheered him on, bought his gear and embraced him as a person and a player. The FANS deserved more than what they got.
    Now that it's over, I still think he's one of the best players in the world, and actually watch the Raptors now because of him. The first game back is over, he got booed (deservedly), now we can all move on with our lives lol..

    As a Spurs fan in San Antonio, I never heard during the TNT broadcast last night what I think is the main reason Spurs Fan is so upset with Kawhi - it is because the Spurs had been building the team around him and he wanted out. He was to be the new Tim Duncan, the centerpiece of the team for the next several years, and knowing that, he turned his back on us and wanted out, anywhere but here. I appreciate what he did in winning us another Championship and his MVP, but after that, not cool at all. Sorry but good riddance. When we select players for our future, we expect them to stick around, not bale after a couple of years. Maybe it's because we have been spoiled with Manu, David, Tony, and Tim, but that is what we expect and count on.

    • @stayhonest
      @stayhonest Před 5 lety +2

      Of course, but the thing is Kawhi had no interest playing for that set franchise. Obviously you guys tried surrounding Kawhi with a solid core and a deep bench, but the simple thing is that he lost interest playing with you.
      I do agree that Kawhi's departure may have hurt, but you can't expect anything from any player. Or expect them maintain their loyalty if they're just not satisfied, forcing someone like Kawhi or any players for that matter to play for a team that just doesn't interest them obviously will result in a demand for a trade.
      The thing is, boo-ing him was expected and reasonable, but after that first-quarter it just was too much. And yes, he may have lingered and didn't do anything and get paid millions, which is the first argument a lot of fans make, but a lot of the time being paid to do something simply doesn't cut it. Kawhi simply didn't enjoy playing with the Spurs and that's that. Sure, he should've came out and said that but that doesn't mean he did it out of ill-intention
      Kawhi has done so much for you guys and I hope Deebo does a lot for you guys too, lets remember the past and hold all our players with respect and love that they all need.

    Let's be honest. If fans paid good money to come out to see the game, and the Spurs averaging a home game attendance percentage of 98.2, the booing can be viewed as a part of the show. A professional athlete has 2 jobs, (1) win championships, and (2) fill seats.
    Kawhi returning to San Antonio for the first time after leaving the team, fulfilled requirement #2.

They do realise that Kawhi is 27 and 2 years younger then DeMar who is 29.. Barkley is right these guys are idiots..lol

When he takes a position on a sports matter, it is sometimes vague as to how he got to that position. But, when he explains it, then it makes sense a lot of the time.

    For once Shaq is right...we don’t know what happened between the rift with Kawhi and the spurs. They took advantage that Kawhi doesn’t speak on personal issues so they used the 48 laws of power and struck first hoping to destroy is image. You guys forget POP has been in the military and skilled at the art of manipulation. Someone like Kawhi probably could not continue to be in that type of relationship. NBA has to turned into a soap opera.
