    Thank you for putting this together. This was very helpful.

    Well done. Grounded, sensible, sympathetic. Don't know why you dont have more subs.
    I'd like to know if school based dyslexic oriented learning is helpful for APD, or whether a specific diagnosis and then teaching approach for APD is required for a pupil already diagnosed dyslexic.
    Regardless, great vid. Blessed children to have a mother so interested in their best selves.

      That is so kind. Thank you. I am not an expert, but think it’s good to incorporate APD and dyslexic intervention simultaneously as in LIPs or Foundation in Sounds.

    My son was diagnosed at age 10 with orofiund dyslexia along with other issues. After 3 years if strong phonics instruction, he was FINALLY diagnosed with auditory processing disorder by a specialized audiologist. Now hes 14 1/2 and still cant spell at all. Hes frustrated and absolutely doesn't want to go through another learning program. Im at a loss

      My teenage sons aren't doing programs anymore. They would prefer to accept spelling poorly and rely on assistive technology like speech-to-text, Siri, etc for the rest of their life. I am totally fine with that.

      @@AmyNoelonDyslexiaI agree. My son told me he wasnt worried and I should just "chill". 😂 From the mouth of babes lol

      Thank you, Kendra. You're the best! I would like to make more. I am not sure what to do right now. The informative videos take a lot of preparation.

      @@kendramackenzie192 thank you for offering! I just saw this, sorry for the late reply. I think it would be helpful if you see a particular need or topic in dyslexic communities that I could make a video on to just let me know about it- video ideas. I am going to make one soon on transition IEP meetings for when kids move up to a different school.

      @AmyNoelonDyslexia I think a video on Transition meetings would be good. In my state, we are trying to pass a bill that would support a comprehensive literacy curriculum for all schools . Many a video explaining how to look for good literacy instruction

    I got tested for dyslexia but then got diagnosed with APD

    • @AmyNoelonDyslexia
      @AmyNoelonDyslexia  Před rokem +1

      That makes sense. But, you still might have dyslexia also. Hopefully they did thorough testing. Are you doing a reading program that helps auditory processing?

    • @jacquelinedenham4055
      @jacquelinedenham4055 Před rokem

      Yes I do have dyslexia also. I'm 58 so I'm OK for any programmes, thanks. If I wanted to go onto more studying, I may consider it.

    Audiologists OWN the auditory system. We are the only professionals qualified to evaluate an individual for auditory processing. The TAPS is a screening tool - not a diagnostic evaluation. Audiologists use a sound booth to properly evaluate ones hearing and auditory processing capabilities. Please don't give advise on something you know nothing about. You quoted Terri Bellis'. research - read her book on APD.

      I appreciate your comment. I took my sons to an audiologist and they tested him in a sound booth. Sorry my wording wasn’t exact in referring to TAPS. I still think the video is valuable for moms like me gathering information.
