  • Having encountered more Chinese migrants along the way, CNA correspondent Wei Du arrives in Necocli, Colombia, where the migrants are set to embark on the most dangerous part of their journey: a long trek through the Darien Gap. As the migrants move ahead, the CNA team encounters roadblocks in the drug cartel-controlled territory. Meanwhile, in Monterey Park, California, newly arrived Chinese migrants struggle to find their footing.

This particular documentary is generally well done with little to no "propaganda", but if there were any "angle", as you put it, it would be to discourage Chinese Citizens from attempting to leave China and immigrate to America. Chinese Citizens in America would generally give America an advantage against the CCP in the same way that Millions of Americans in China would give America a potential advantage or edge against the CCP. The questions you are asking are too difficult to explain in a few sentences on CZcams, as the problems in both countries are infinitely complex and interrelated.

They took the long hard route. Indians go to Canada as international students but get jobs, use food banks for the homeless. The Canadian government caves in to their protests to stay, work and claim permanent residence when they were suppose to leave after studies. Tens of thousands of Indians have done this in the past couple years. If they choose to go to the US, it's easier with a base in Canada. Some Canadians have noticed the substantial increase in the Indian population out of every other group and are miffed at their demands.

@@mingzmings88 as an American I'll agree. Chinese out of all groups have the ability to live in any circumstance because Chinese eat bitter. That's why there's a Chinatown in every city of the world no matter how poor. Unfortunately when these Chinese reach the US they'll find it's no easier than back in China. The pay is high but the living expenses are higher. Many Americans have to live on credit debt just to get by. The Chinese couple in Monterey Park in this clip complained that the cost of groceries were so high but if the set foot outside the Chinese communities they'll find the regular supermarket prices are even higher. Like that one guy said maybe half go back to China. The rest will live lives of toil. In past generations the Chinese parents accept this in exchange for their children being well educated in the US and live an elevated life but in this new age that's no longer a guarantee as many American college graduates struggle to find good paying jobs upon graduation.

@@mingzmings88 for you the US costs of living are not bad because it's similar to Singapore. San Francisco is a bit higher than SG but in Las Vegas Arizona Dallas it should be cheaper than SG. For mainland Chinese it's a different story like you said especially these migrant worker types who live in maybe 3rd tier Chinese cities US cities will be a price shock.
Not sure what you mean target. target them for what? Not sure what you mean. I think lot of these illegal immigrants to the US left China mainly because they were sold a false hope by gangster human trafficking groups doing certain promotions to people in China who are in bad situations whatever those may be. As you can see from the show some of these people thought the streets were paved with gold still same as the Chinese who sold other Chinese the same stories hundreds of years ago to look for the gold mountain. In this episode where the one guy went to the immigration lawyer she said if he stays there's a chance that if he wants to stay he won't get a green card or permanent residency status and he can only have working rights and will report to the Chinese embassy. But there's a good chance the Chinese embassy wouldn't even give these people the papers to be able to return to China by plane. This means for many of these people the CCP views them as better for Chinese society to be rid of them for whatever reasons. China wouldn't even waste time to have them back to punish if that's what you mean.

I have often praised China, mostly due to her roads, trains, buses, offices and general infrastructure that I have seen online. Specially when I compare the lot to the poor standards of the same that we have in India. India is a village compared to China, infrastructurally.
I wasn't wrong, but short-sighted. Watching this brilliantly-made documentary I realise what China really is behind its grandeur. A nation where there is no rule of law. No freedom of expression and the right to dissent. The Chinese may be wealthy or poor, but living in fear all the same.
I feel slightly better to be an Indian, though I never thought I'd have to say this comparing myself to the Chinese. My village-like country and poor infrastructure has freedom beneath them. I can become a Christian tomorrow if I want and preach it (if I lost my mind). Or I can remain an Atheist. I can openly criticise my government and do, especially the thugs we have put in power for the last 15 years. Let's hope we become a China when it comes to her roads and trains. Not her politics.

They go night market place stalls, involve in sex trade etc.
The manner they enter the country is more comfortable, via planes and social visit pass with relatives in Singapore.
Some entered with work permit many years ago even after their permit expired.
Last time, my neighbour told me that her friend rented out the portion of her shop to Chinese migrant without having proper paper work.
The moment police comes, migrant ran away bought ticket fly back to China immediately.
