- Having encountered more Chinese migrants along the way, CNA correspondent Wei Du arrives in Necocli, Colombia, where the migrants are set to embark on the most dangerous part of their journey: a long trek through the Darien Gap. As the migrants move ahead, the CNA team encounters roadblocks in the drug cartel-controlled territory. Meanwhile, in Monterey Park, California, newly arrived Chinese migrants struggle to find their footing.

I say CNA and Wei Du deserves an award. This documentary is unblieveable. Pay me 100k I still won't dare to take up such filming.
China is large land but ordinary people are unhappy because of greed for power of their leaders that's why this is happening.
@@Mark-mo7rvwho cares its large ? It is poor AF
@Mark-mo7rv
I often go to Mainland China where most people are happy.
@@Mark-mo7rv You are right, I am a chinese and I don't feel happy because of many many reasons. Most of chinese wants to go out of this country.
Then you need to watch Bald and Bankrupts adventure crossing the Darian gap. As respectable as this documentary is, it’s late to the game. There’s journalists that have done something similar with almost no budget or camera crew.
I like how the entire program gives no judgement, nor delve into politics. It is just an examination of the human side of this current illegal immigration crisis.
Yet they still play creepy background music 🤔
It's propaganda.
它并没有输出太多自己的观点,只是描述现实,剩下的就留给观众思考这个选择是否值得。

They need to bravely fight for freedom in their own country. Just like the Legend of the Three Kingdoms Heroes Guang Fu, Cao Cao, Super Pig
and the Iron Monkey. Be an example of Chinese bravery like the Hong Kong people, don't run away to other people's countries.
@@SubwayStreetvendorblocki-hn1wyThey won’t. It’s in their cowardly blood to run to other countries

Wei and production team, this is award-winning frontline journalism . Great job!
As singaporean, we are exposed to so many news outlets from western mainstream to independent to russian etc. I maybe biased but cna is really the best. No bs no propoganda just great journalism.
As Singaporean, this is totally an BS. There are flights from China to other countries in South America including Mexico. From there, they can take bus or other transportation to Mexican side of El Paso city. From there, they can walk right inside US. There are direct flights from China to Mexico. All these people fell for the scam.
@@wsmithe2209 you are absolutely right. Unless they cannot even get a mexican visa which is truly suspect. Its really unclear what the background of these people.
@wsmithe2209 Chinese citizens require a visa to go to Mexico. The people who are being smuggled are usually heavily in debt or unemployed and would struggle to get a Mexican visa. Ecuador is normally chosen as the starting point because it's visa free for Chinese citizens
@@calvinchow160 - Visa fee is nothing comapre to airfare, food and staying. Getting a visa to Mexico should not be a problem from China.
@@hartonolee - There are many Chinese setup shops selling goods in central America. Some are making it and some aren't. The ones that are not making it don't have enough money to fly back home. This is the way to go back home free.
Cannot imagine the danger Wei Du and her team faced for this documentary. The perilous journey that these people are willing to take for the sake for better lives, makes us Singaporeans all the more appreciate what we have that we should not take for granted
There was no danger. I would have like to have seen them cross the Darian Gap on foot, but that was never their goal of course, and they never would have done it. This was a thinly veiled propaganda fluff piece.
@@Sovereign_Citizen_LEO well it was unsafe for her. what is the "propaganda fluff piece" angle even??
@@ladyofhalos - I was speaking in general (of CNA). This particular documentary is generally well done with little to no "propaganda", but if there were any "angle", as you put it, it would be to discourage Chinese Citizens from attempting to leave China and immigrate to America. Chinese Citizens in America would generally give America an advantage against the CCP in the same way that Millions of Americans in China would give America a potential advantage or edge against the CCP. The questions you are asking are too difficult to explain in a few sentences on CZcams, as the problems in both countries are infinitely complex and interrelated.
I have watched all the 3 parts in one shot. Wei Du and the team did a great job.. Very professional and in-depth ..Salute and respect👍👍👍
Typical biased Western propaganda and unprofessional reporting. CNA didn't even bother to investigate the background of these people. The US government issues millions of visa to Chinese Nationals every year. There are hundreds of direct flights from China to America every week.
Excellent journalism 👍
As a fellow Chinese with legal status in Canada, I feel very privileged knowing what these people have gone through...
Hi
Any tips for us?
As a fellow Chinese American. I hope Trump gets re-elected so he could send every illegals packing
So your good feeling is builded upon other people's difficulties?? 永远的三等公民!
They took the long hard route. Indians go to Canada as international students but get jobs, use food banks for the homeless. The Canadian government caves in to their protests to stay, work and claim permanent residence when they were suppose to leave after studies. Tens of thousands of Indians have done this in the past couple years. If they choose to go to the US, it's easier with a base in Canada. Some Canadians have noticed the substantial increase in the Indian population out of every other group and are miffed at their demands.
This is absolutely riveting! So proud of CNA for doing this documentary and thank you to the production team for risking their lives to document this.
I cried when they gave their testimony. They left their home country with such immense faith and gave up everything so that their daughter and they themselves could be with Christ. I pray that the Lord continues to watch over them and keep them safe through all the troubles and social instability they are about to encounter in America. Shalom!
Hope they will be safe settling in US, and that they would not be in refugee camps if China starts war.
This comment lol. Are you Christian or Jewish (or Communist Chinese)? Do you think the social instability in the USA is going to be worse than what they've already experienced in China? I don't think so. That's why they gave up everything to come here. And that is not to say there is not social instability in America (or that it isn't intentionally getting worse through Communist/ Globalist Usury Subversion). Because it is.
Wei Du hugging the aunties after meeting them again in Panama was such a human moment in this documentary.
It seems to me like the Chinese migrants doing this trek are not in the same precarious situation that the Haitian/South American migrants are in. It seems to be that they're being intentionally mislead into thinking there is something for them in the U.S that they can't find in China, and as they arrive they are finding out they made a mistake.
Like that one family, they think the US is paved with gold. Meanwhile my Chinese family is thinking of leaving the US to go to China just because we feel unsafe here with the ramping up of sinophobia.
Seems like most the people coming here are either naive or are debt ridden and want to escape for a "new" life like the people we saw in the first segment.
The family is literally escaping religious persecution for being Christian so it's definitely not the case for everyone, they have a legitimate reason to want to go to the US.
@@jackrlong That's the same excuse my grandfather used. Lmao please, chinese are smart people, they will see the anti China stuff and latch on to it. One of the best documentaries in recent years. Thank you Wei Du for journeying with these people along the line!
God protect them all the
Who ever behind this production, my DEEPEST RESPECT to all of you ❤❤❤❤ You present the dreams of humanity to the world 🌎 Those Chinese faces and their language are so familiar to some of my neighbours here in beautiful rural Malaysia ❤
Grass always seems greener on the other side, until you get there
sometimes it actually is greener pastures for these ppl
It seems greener until they encounter blatant racism. That's why a lot of Chinese went back to China after a few years in US - it is far far worse ...
I'm a Shanghainese immigrant to US. Yes, the grass REALLY is greener in the US. But the big disclaimer is IF you come here legally and you are a good student. I came here as a top student. My wife is from GuangXi, and we were classmates in graduate school. We, like MOST chinese Americans are now living the American Dream. Keep in mind, most Chinese Americans are wealthier than even white americans. Most of us have university degrees, and 25% of us have masters/doctorates. This is the reason why we Chinese (Asian) Americans are so prosperous in the US, NOT by coming here illegally.
@@xiphoid2011 , Is it worth it to leave China behind? I'm asking this because I've seen so many videos of China thriving, and it's good for foreigners living there. I'm curious.
It's literally the difference between a dictatorial regime without freedom and a democracy with freedom. Depending on what you value, it might be worth taking the risk.
Thanks Wei Du and CNA team for risking your lives for producing such real and unbiased documentary. Really eye opening, but yet sad at the same time listening to why they need to leave China. Given a choice, no one would risk their lives to leave their home country.

Can't imagine & comprehend the risks of crossing the Darien Gap despite the dangers and threats from drug cartels..
i'm glad the Chinese family made it out in one piece, the trek may look easy on camera but the mental and physical stress/tiredness is not one can easily relate to...
Well done to the CNA team & Wei who undertook the risks and danger to shoot with a cam & bring us this excellent documentary to us!!!
A REALLY BIG RISK!!!

They seem too naive to the reality of life in the U.S as an illegal migrant
Of all Asiansssss... Do not underestimate the Chinese.. 😂
@@mingzmings88 as an American I'll agree. Chinese out of all groups have the ability to live in any circumstance because Chinese eat bitter. That's why there's a Chinatown in every city of the world no matter how poor. Unfortunately when these Chinese reach the US they'll find it's no easier than back in China. The pay is high but the living expenses are higher. Many Americans have to live on credit debt just to get by. The Chinese couple in Monterey Park in this clip complained that the cost of groceries were so high but if the set foot outside the Chinese communities they'll find the regular supermarket prices are even higher. Like that one guy said maybe half go back to China. The rest will live lives of toil. In past generations the Chinese parents accept this in exchange for their children being well educated in the US and live an elevated life but in this new age that's no longer a guarantee as many American college graduates struggle to find good paying jobs upon graduation.
@@alhkcblack9617 hey dude.. I am from Singapore yes I am Chinese but not China Chinese per se.. nutting to do with CCP or XJP.. do not get confused with Senator Cotton guy.. lol.. I was in the US (San Francisco, Vegas, Arizona, Dallas, NYC, Philly, DC) in late 2023.. the cost of living is still pretty much decent.. except for NYC! Similar to the Chinese in the clip.. the China Chinese that set foot in Singapore also complained that the cost of living is high.. that's because they converted USD to their own currency RMB.. of cuz it's expensive! But honestly.. when they decided to choose this route to USA.. they have nothing to lose.. even to the extend of showing their own faces.. do U think the CCP wouldn't target 🎯 them??
@@mingzmings88 for you the US costs of living are not bad because it's similar to Singapore. San Francisco is a bit higher than SG but in Las Vegas Arizona Dallas it should be cheaper than SG. For mainland Chinese it's a different story like you said especially these migrant worker types who live in maybe 3rd tier Chinese cities US cities will be a price shock.
Not sure what you mean target. target them for what? Not sure what you mean. I think lot of these illegal immigrants to the US left China mainly because they were sold a false hope by gangster human trafficking groups doing certain promotions to people in China who are in bad situations whatever those may be. As you can see from the show some of these people thought the streets were paved with gold still same as the Chinese who sold other Chinese the same stories hundreds of years ago to look for the gold mountain. In this episode where the one guy went to the immigration lawyer she said if he stays there's a chance that if he wants to stay he won't get a green card or permanent residency status and he can only have working rights and will report to the Chinese embassy. But there's a good chance the Chinese embassy wouldn't even give these people the papers to be able to return to China by plane. This means for many of these people the CCP views them as better for Chinese society to be rid of them for whatever reasons. China wouldn't even waste time to have them back to punish if that's what you mean.
of course they are naive, remember they are christian

THIS is an asylum case. Whereas the Chinese people shown on the documentary, I don’t fully get why they are making the whole worldwide trek. What is so terrible that they have to run away? Thank you for telling the story in close up. I moved from Hong Kong to Canada 30 years ago but I am lucky that I got educated and was permitted to immigrate legally without the hardship and life threatening situations. ❤
Even the current wave of HK immigrants are so much more luckier than them.
Chinese from Hong Kong are much more affluent and highly educated than mainland China that they can immigrate easily.

Come to this country legally, pay the immigration fee, set up an interview, and medical fee, and wait a long year to be granted a visa and no help from the government. But these people just cross the borders and get free healthcare, food, and a place to stay. This is so unfair and very disrespectful to those who come here and follow the proper way.

Not sure about the other migrants, but these ones in the documentary are good, honest and hard-working people. I wish them all the best in their new lives in the US.
Deport them all. As a Chinese-American I'm voting Trump. America First.
We don't care if they're hard working or not. They came in illegally. And they had debts back in China that they're running away from. Already showing dishonesty about their arrival.
What an irony. They are dying to leave China and yet shouting "China, China, China go go go". If the country is so great. Why do you want to leave?
Ikr, since they keep saying their country is getting strong and first in the world, why still need to move?
They want to escape the CCP government and their policies.
Such an amazing documentary. Feared for everyone’s safety. This is just as unsettling as North Korean escapees’ stories. Shame on those exploiting the vulnerable. Extremely thankful to our ancestors and being born in a developed city.

On a side note, the Chinese crossers kept on saying that the boat ride was dangerous while the local smuggler did it countless times. I have a bit of doubt whether this group of chinese crossers are resilient or not. Do they really think it's a walk in the park? 😂 Seriously.. if they are not willing to lose their life, better not do this line walk.

Their sponsors are in the USA which will facilitate them if they have entered the territory of the USA. What is the benefit of the sponsors is that they get permanent workers with low wages or workers without wages, they are only given a place to live and eat for free after that they are worked until they die, it is impossible for them to socialize with the people of the USA because they do not have official documents, they are imprisoned because they do not know that there is a crime against humanity, namely slavery, behind illegal immigrants there is human trafficking.

This family started with their Christian belief, so when they go to the USA, they can apply for religious asylum. I have not heard about underground church school in China
There are at least 100 Chinese church school. They are all advocate for home schooling. But according to the Chinese law. It's illegal.I used to work in a big Church school in Zhengzhou.Henan province. But it was shut down at 2022.I went to Australia after that crackdown😭
US $5000 per month is better than RMB ¥30,000 in China????😂😂😂 That Chinese car dealer will say anything to do business.
It's because they have weaponize the dollar to make it reserve currency and Petro dollar that why you see the dollar have value than Chinese Yuan
I have often praised China, mostly due to her roads, trains, buses, offices and general infrastructure that I have seen online. Specially when I compare the lot to the poor standards of the same that we have in India. India is a village compared to China, infrastructurally.
I wasn't wrong, but short-sighted. Watching this brilliantly-made documentary I realise what China really is behind its grandeur. A nation where there is no rule of law. No freedom of expression and the right to dissent. The Chinese may be wealthy or poor, but living in fear all the same.
I feel slightly better to be an Indian, though I never thought I'd have to say this comparing myself to the Chinese. My village-like country and poor infrastructure has freedom beneath them. I can become a Christian tomorrow if I want and preach it (if I lost my mind). Or I can remain an Atheist. I can openly criticise my government and do, especially the thugs we have put in power for the last 15 years. Let's hope we become a China when it comes to her roads and trains. Not her politics.
At 25:30, the guy chants "China GoGoGo!" the irony is that they risked their lives to escape China
28:35. lol. “As long as can get out of China. Get out of that dreadful place”….
The way those migrants look for jobs in US, are very similar to the way they tried to make a living in Singapore.
They go night market place stalls, involve in sex trade etc.
The manner they enter the country is more comfortable, via planes and social visit pass with relatives in Singapore.
Some entered with work permit many years ago even after their permit expired.
Last time, my neighbour told me that her friend rented out the portion of her shop to Chinese migrant without having proper paper work.
The moment police comes, migrant ran away bought ticket fly back to China immediately.
In the end, the landlord's son was sentenced to jail sentence cos the property is under her son's name. 😢
