Budget Gaming PC build (fail)

- This budget Gaming PC is my customers very first computer build, and though I admire their courage and love seeing people build their own tech , this pink budget build had quite a few things wrong with it. You can still get good technology for cheap, but can I fix everything that went wrong?

I upgraded my CPU cooler and had a mini panic attack when my PC wouldn’t boot fully. It would briefly flash all the RGB, the GPU fan would kick on, then spin back down. Just kept cycling.
Turns out there were two cables I hadn’t plugged in completely after reinserting the motherboard (there is no “back” in my HP Omen, it’s sealed with rivets, so the whole motherboard has to come out for that upgrade).
Lesson learned!

That dreadful moment when you finally have put it all together, you plugged it in the outlet properly, push the button, and nothing happens. Oops, just forgot the PSU power switch.
Alternatively, nothing happens for a fraction of a second that feels unending, and then it lights on properly. Phew...
Alternatively again, it boots up like a champ, you start a game for the first time, but something's wrong, the fans ramp up to the max, the game starts up and is already sluggish... Oops, forgot to peel the CPU cooler tag.

Reminds me of when I built my first PC five years ago. I got everything installed but it wouldn’t work at all. Turns out that the bios needs to be cleared and reset whenever you installed a new processor. I also used 30 year old thermal GREASE on the cpu that my grandfather had, he said it was used for the higher-powered jungle chips used in old TVs
The RX 470 and Pentium G4560 from that build is being used in a backup PC.
That's amazing 😅
Oh my god the Japanese part 😂😂😂
It was so weirdly pronounced, I almost mistook it for Chinese (which I've learned to a basic level and know the obvious differences).

I seriously wish all cases would just have the front panel connector as one big plug rather than small multiple ones.
2024 and we still deal with this bs
I agree to an extent, sometimes the power button is toast and you gotta use tweezers or a screwdriver to turn it on. But yeah it's mostly awful
Are the pin placements universal? I thought some mobos had different arrangements.
@@HandleIsNewAndBad They seem to be universal, I've never seen a board that used a different layout for those first 8 pins. At most, they sometimes flip the reset switch to + - instead of - + but the reset button usually doesn't care which way it gets plugged in, and many newer cases don't even _have_ a reset button
(The power button shouldn't care either, and on older cases it usually doesn't, but newer cases apparently love to have unnecessary diodes everywhere)
Some PC cases have it as a little bundle, while some motherboards come with this extension to plug every single micro-front panel I/O cable into. the latest NZXT cases for example, have the front I/o power-switch cables as this little bundle, allowing you to easily install it into the motherboard.
I was actually a first timer a few months ago; I watched so many of your shorts and gained general knowledge little by little, then just used whatever pc building vids were out there to end the job that day. Miraculous first try. Haven't had a issue. Honestly, feel like watching your shorts and watching the plethora of issues and tinkering that made me want to go for it too.

you know, what makes him the best pc tech to have ever lived or whatever is not because he's literally the best at it but more so of things like this. Rather than shaming the builder or anything like that, he approached it with understanding and helped them either way and turned it into a learning experience. good on ya mate

My first time building a pc, there were no issues. I didn't even do a boot check, assembled everything and prayed, and everything worked out just fine
Jamming sensitive things in tight spots is new
Ngl I'd love a colorful PC case like that, I don't know what happened to beauty in the world for us to get a field of mostly black cases with a few white ones.
This was the first time I've ever seen a pink case and I want one
It takes balls to build a PC in a pink case, which is kind of counterintuitive. Hey, Barbie needs to build a computer too. I’m going to puke from that Pepto-Bismol pink though… but I guess it’s better than that old tan/sand we lived with for years.

Im glad I found this channel, it's funny and tells me a lot of stuff that helped when building my first solo pc.
A couple months ago I had the pleasure of replacing 80% of my components and I was forced to build my new pc alone (my tech-savvy friend helped me last time but this time he was busy moving).
Somehow I managed to not only find and order parts that all worked well together, but I managed to get it working on my first try! Granted I had to watch countless pc building videos for tips and instructions, but I recommend building a pc alone at least once in your life. It forces you to learn many things to ensure success, and I now know my way around my pc better than ever and I cannot feel prouder about it, even my friend was shocked I got it working 😂
Keep up the good work

Instant solution to your first question: The Greatest Technician that ever lived
This might be the funniest video yet great video man!
So true. I was terrified of making my own PC when my laptop died, but after my first time, taking apart my PC or building new ones became like second nature ❤
All of the repairs require the touch of THE GREATEST TECHNICIAN THAT'S EVER LIVED in order to fix them!!!
The greatest technician that's ever lived part 😭
The first PC I ever build was a 4th gen HP case swap of an HP Pavilion and the motherboard name was Memphis 2, and the board was a uATX form factor, so it fit a standard ATX case.I changed the i3 to an i7 4790 and It all worked and I paired it with a 1060 6GB, except I bent the pins on the USB 3 header. You can watch tons of videos and know exactly how to build one, but until get that hands on experience, you just don't know how delicate those usb3 header pins actually are. Actually case swapping an OEM computer like that is actually more work then just building one, because you have to take the OEM apart first. I ended up buying this PCIe card that had the header on it and fixed it that way. Ive built probably 50 computes since then, and flipped most of them except 2 and we use those.
That "rhino scene from ace ventura" line was golden🤣

That Ace Ventura reference was gold 😂
Its really nice to see someone be this positive towards someone about mistakes on their first build. Went to a subreddit for advice once and got flamed for not knowing.
It's currently the same problem on Reddit if you mention an RTX 4060, people will laugh at you, sadly.

"We don't talk about the back" killed me 💀
My friend just built her first PC and I was on a video call with her helping get it put together. It was going so well, and she did fantastic with all the parts. Needed some coaxing, esp. for the ram sticks.
She finished putting it together and turned it on, only to be met with failure. We tried for a solid week to get it working, and turns out the GPU was DOA :(
Building a PC is fun, but so stressful sometimes. I can't wait to build a fully custom one with great cable management and fun lil trinkets inside it myself
That Ace Ventura reference was GOLD
Proud to say my first build many moons ago fired right up the first time and never had a single issue its entire life. That being said I had all the knowledge for years before going in, I just hadn’t actually built one.
My first build (pretty recent) went surprisingly smoothly! But only because I spent hours researching and watching guides. You have to use a surprising amount of force on some of the parts. The PC building community is very generous with knowledge, thankfully.
Realizing 90% of motherboards have the exact same pinout for front panel pins is like a rite of passage for any technician
yeah sounds like my first build, we've all gotta start somewhere
Every time I see one of your videos I'm convinced that I'd be able to go for my own build purely based off of 0% knowledge and the 100% confidence boost your videos give
can confirm, i built my first pc a week ago and holy shit i didn't expect the components to require that much force, im actually amazed that the cpu retention latch can actually withstand that much stress.
i even did the illegal "removing the cpu slot cover before installing the cpu" because i genuinely felt like that was what's stopping me.
you really don't get the feel for the actual force required from a build guide.
"diagram for ants" was too real

As someone who has trouble reading the miniature hieroglyphs I recommend taking a picture of it with your phone and zooming in. Sometimes the focus is off but it helps so much.
My first pc build went pretty much without a hitch, except for a single bent pin on the usb 3.0 connector because I have the Obsidian 500D case and the cable management is really tedious and annoying on that case. I had it done in just a few hours total, and the moment I got home after getting the pin unbent I had the pc built and windows installed with a local account and anti-telemetry tweaks by midnight.
I thank my IT teacher in high school, he did a good job teaching me how to build computers. :)

The fact that nothing appears to have been damaged is rather impressive.
Would've probably helped them down the road if you took a minute or two to explain what they messed up tbh. I definitely could've used that kind of help my first go around, haha
I was trained in Job Corps for IT, and they had us frankenstein some ancient computers before we could go up to more recent models. It was good training, for me at least.
