  • Obsidian Surge Rower - check pricing on Amazon: amzn.to/3ALzQdn
I am a physical therapist and I already own the Concept 2 rower. When I purchased the Obsidian Surge 500 Rower I was looking for a taller seat and lower price rower for my clients.
    Pros:
Great build quality, ultra-smooth rowing action, tall seat.
    Cons:
Low resistance level, no heel strap, limited display options.

Mine broke after 2 yrs of light use. I suddenly lost all tension on the pull cord during a 20min workout. The mfg quoted me an absurd amount of $ for a repair kit. I bought a Concept 2 rower instead and am sooo happy I did as it's a so much better rower and will last years and years.

2 or 3 year replacement plan upon purchase= problem solved. Just replaced (Amazon gift card for purchase amount) my merach water rower after 2.5 years. Mine was used 3-4 times a week 20-45 min at a time intense / tiring workouts so it was well worth it.

can't you add water for more resistance?

the fact that the foot peddle moves - is bad…. especially for an exercise equipment that demands technical form to really be effective

The best I could find was 350 CAD, which is about 270 USD. The thing is, those who are really into rowing will buy Concept 2 or something close to it. So people who buy these machines will buy it and then stop rowing after a while, maybe they won't find it "perfect" for these reasons, so they end up selling to those who are similarly trying to get into rowing for a low price. I myself am looking at one and I want to buy it. The only thing that bothers me from listening to these comments is the resistance level. If someone in a rehabilitation center finds it too easy, then someone who wants a harder workout will find it probably too weak.

@@jupitereye4322 I'm getting mine today and I was having buyers remorse but this video makes it clear, I made the right choice.
The C2 is just a superior machine and could last you a lifetime if properly maintained. If it doesn't work out, the C2 has a great resale value :)
