    Only 3 ways
    1) self-defense
    2) to be invited by another country to intervene in their affairs. eg in a civil war
    3) to get authorisation from the UN Security Council
    - use of veto. All 5 members (US, UK, France, China, Russia) must agree on something for it to be passed. Even if only one of them disagrees, the motion is not passed.
Some legal scholars think that military intervention is only ethical if it: has a just cause, agreed via just means and has a just outcome. Clearly, this is very idealistic and is very seldom achieved in the real world.
Going deeper, we can say that it must have a just cause, must have been agreed on by the right authority and it must only be the last resort and it must be proportional

What do you think about South Africa intervening in Northern Mozambique?

I think it's a step in the right direction. So far it doesn't look like Mozambique can deal with the problem on their own

@@conflux2300 yeah. I agree with that. But if we go into the area and act with only military force without doing humanitarian work and deradicalising the people, it will only expand attacks to South Africa.

@@Cvs999v I agree. Military force alone is not the solution. And any military intervention needs to have the proper support, authorization and legitimacy
